We had a wonderful stay in the Palazzo Abadessa and would highly recommend it to anyone travelling to Venice. From the time we arrived we were made feel very welcome. The buffet breakfast was the best I have seen. The hotel was lovely and clean and the room and ensuite were good sizes with all the mod cons you would need and more. ... I can only wax lyrical about the hotel. ... Very efficient and friendly. ... We arrived at the hotel at the canal side to a street of grubby looking buildings. When we entered the hotel we were amazed at the size and how well kept the hotel was. The building was built in the 1600s and the original doors are still there with fantastic furniture etc. There is amazing history to the hotel and the proprietor gave us a book on the hotels history which is a must to read. It's located close to most places in Venice and walking is a must. There is a quietness and sereneness about this haven and the proprietors exude this. The hotel also has a beautiful garden. There is a very narrow street which leads to the hotel which is perfectly safe at night much to my amazement.

Excellent welcome. The owner and staff were very polite and welcoming. With complementary drinks offered while the paperwork was completed. ... The accomodation more than exceeded all our expectations. Some great recommandations were given for resturants by the staff. ... A stunning hotel with lots of character. Situated in a quiet location of Venice. But still within easy walking distance to any area of venice. Very helpful and welcoming staff and owners.

It was pouring rain and they helped us in the door and helped us dry off. Very gracious. ... I would highly recommend this property to anyone! Wonderful. ... They made breakfast for us early and checked us out early so we could catch our boat. Frankly wonderful service. ... Very beautiful, fantastic rooms, exceptionally gracious people.

Quick/Friendly ... The general directions to get to the hotel were clear. We only got 'lost' due to the complexity of the Venice streets (as a first time visitor) ... The property, facilities, and accomodations were especially nice! .. Bathrooms were very clean and recently remodeled. ... The hotel was on the expensive side, but the added cost did relate to the special value that the property displayed ... Worth it for a romantic vaction exerience (This would be a great hotel to enjoy a marriage or honeymoon) ... Just off the beaten path enough that you are out of the busy tourist area. ... The website was generally accurate ... My comment would include that it was actually a 'Better' hotel and grounds than we percieved from the website! ... Worth the extra cost to upgrade to the Palazzo! ... The gounds were charming, the entire staff was friendly! The owner, Maria, spent time with us to explain the area/surroundings and paid attention to our needs while at the hotel. Her employee, Nicola, deserves honerable mention! ... Together, they allowed us to include them in a short video that we sent back our daughter in the USA.
Last, but not least, the Courtyard was an especially quiet and relaxing place to enjoy breakfast and relax after a long day playing tourist in Venice.
We have told all of our friends about the Palazzo Abadessa and would definalty stay there again!
Bellisimo!

We would have been pretty lost finding the hotel if we didn't already know Venice well, and that we already had a good map of the city. ... Especially the room we were given (upgraded to) for the second night - it was a superb suite overlooking the canal, with balcony, mezanine, antiques and a superb canopied bed! ... The hotel isn't cheap - but is anywhere in Venice? But it is so nice to have the personal touches of a small, quality hotel to stay in, rather than the impersonal service of the larger, better known (and even more expensive) options! ... Very friendly, thoughtful management, lots of special touches (e.g. flowers in our room for no particular reason, and a bottle of bubbly when they heard that we were there for a birthday celebration - we mentioned that AFTER they had upgraded us to their best suite!), excellent breakfasts - a superb stay, first class in every way and well worth the effort to find it!

We arrived there before check-in time. While waiting for check-in time,Madam served us coffee and croissants. ... There were 3 wedding parties in the hotel during our stay. After those parties, the owner offered us to choose one of superior rooms without extra charge, for it was rather noisy during the parties. The offered room was beautiful, wide and bright,we enjoyed our stay very much. ... We have departed there early in the morning, although they have kindly served breakfast earlier than usual. ... Try! You'd be satisfied.

The Abadessa is an absolutely lovely small hotel with friendly, attentive staff. The location, near Campo Sophia is ideal. The hotel's small garden is an oasis of green in this city of water and stone.

The selection and quaility of your properties was very good and the search portion was easy. ... The request portion of the web site was very cumbersome and could be confusing. I found it frustrating to have to enter the same information multiple time when submitting request for availability and quotes to multiple properties. ... The whole experience a Palazzo Abadessa was wonderful. The owner and staff went out of their way to make us feel welcome. The breakfast was very satifying. They have done a beautiful job of decorating the rooms and lobby in authenic decor. I give this B&B five stars. ... The whole experience a Palazzo Abadessa was wonderful. They have done a beautiful job of decorating the rooms and lobby in authenic decor. I loved having a garden to set in. Also, I had hurt my back prior to my arrivial and the owner personally pampered me with an ice pack for my back and lots of tender loving care (TLC). We want to go back some day and I do not hesitate to recommend palazzo Abadessa to my friends. I give this B&B five stars.

We arrived very late in the evening, and were greeted by the lady who runs it. She very kindly prepared us a late night snack and made us feel incredibly welcome. ... We thoroughly enjoyed our stay, and would certainly recommend it to others wishing to visit Venice. We were also upgraded on our last night which was an added bonus. ... A lovely, romantic place to stay. Very private and slightly out of the way but within easy access to all the major sights without being too close, noisy and touristy. The staff were exceptionally welcoming and we will definately be coming back!

The Abadessa is a dream-come-true. Staying there is not like staying in a bed-and-breafaat; it' like staying at the the home of a Doge! The propietors are a warm and generous couple who deserve the highest praise for the condition of the property and the treatment of their guests. ... Listing comparative costs of water taxis and Vaporettos from various arrival points, such as the train station, to the property would be helpful, particularly for those travelers who have no idea what taxis and Vaporetto tickets cost. (A 10-minute ride in a water taxi from the train station to the property costs around 55 euros.) ... If 'a man's home is his castle,' this place is the next best thing. It's a palace that feels like home.

We were met upon arrival by the owner, Giovanni and the receptionist and immediately felt welcome. ... While the web site description was very accurate, words cannot always convey the level of charm, elegance and hospitality. Palazzo Abadessa met and exceeded my expectations. ... Would have liked an itemized bill upon check-out but only received a bill with the total amount. An itemized bill would have been useful in determining how much each room was and how much the extras were. ... Palazzo Abadessa was a wonderful hotel and our stay was truly exceptional. The hotel itself is charming and historic with a very convenient location, the rooms were clean and spacious with elegant decor and fittings, the staff and owners helpful, cheerful and thoughtful. I would highly recommend Palazzo Abadessa to family and friends and look forward to returning again in the very near future.

Wonderful hotel. So beautiful and the staff were so helpful! ... I would stay there again in a minute. The breakfast was wonderful and the little patio's were perfect for reading and sitting in the sun. I would recommend this hotel to anyone asking. ... They were very prepared - had everything ready for us to sign the night before. ... Very quaint and european. So close to everything you could possibly want.

It was not as quite as we would have liked due to the thin walls and the school children so close by during their lunch hours. ... The rooms are much larger than expected ... Tranquil

As work was going on outside the hotel as a wall had collapsed next to the canal,a member of staff met us at the closest water taxi stop & helped us with our luggage. ... We had a wonderful stay at Palazzo Abadessa & would definitely stay there again & recommend to friends. We wer a little disappointed that we were put in a suite overlooking the canal when workmen started drilling at 7.30am. I know I had booked a suite, but would have preferred to have been given the choice of another room for peace & quiet so early in the morning when on holiday. This, however, did not take away from the beauty of a stay here. The restaurant recommendations given by staff were excellent. ... The staff arranged for a room for us for the day as check out is at 10am & our flight was 10.30pm. We paid 50euros expecting to have to vacate early evening but we had the room till we left at 8pm. The staff volunteered to help with the luggage to get to the water taxi pick up point. We were amazed that an additional breakfast on the morning of arrival & pre dinner drinks were complimentary! ... This hotel is a great secret, don't let too many people know about it!!!! ... Romantic, full of character, excellent service & a joy to stay.

I found VeniceBy directly through a search engine. ... I found hotels I saw on no other site, especially small ones with charming features. ... Very friendly, relaxed atmosphere in a beautiful setting. I would really recommend this hotel especially if you travel with children: they are most welcome, there is a nice garden and the area is quiet.

I was a little disappointed that the superior room for which I had paid a lot more was little different from the standard room. Although the hotel was excellent, the room was not what I had hoped for given that I had paid extra. I even queried that it was a superior room. Also there was a very large wedding held at the hotel on the Sunday of our stay which effectively put the public areas and garden out of use. ... A spectacular building with a beautiful garden. A little pricey given the strength of the Euro but perfect for a romantic weekend. Don't bother paying extra for the superior room. Either go standard or blow it all on one of the spectacular suites.

The facilities were absoutly stunning. The staff couldn't be more friendly and heplful. This newly renovated ancient palazzo is a jewel in one of the most wonderful cities in the world. I fear that when the word gets out that I will be difficult to get in to this wonderful charming hotel.

Only problem - bad mosquitoes in one room - but that was swiftly sorted out with an anti-mosquito device. Very helpful advice on booking restaurants etc. ... Very helpful family-run upmarket guest house. Very personal service from a nice Italian family. Quite expensive but beautifully restored and stylish. Make sure you ask for the anti-mosquito plug in devices! I think the canal could get a bit smelly in the summer.

It would be usefull to provide information about the ways to reach the hotel, incl. cost estimation. The watertaxi is very convenient, but costs 90 euro. The waterbus is 2 x 5 and a very good alternative, provided you know how to reach the hotel from the bus stations. ... would definitely recommend
