the bathroom was too litle in space for a guy like me, i.e. the space between toilet and wall was too little for my legs :-)

It would be far easier to mention that but #5 from the airport will whisk you to Stat. Roma for 2Euros. There look for the water bus #82, where you will have to purchase a ticket for yourself for 5Euros and 3.50Eu for your suitcase. Three stops on the boat will deposit you at the Rialto. Upon leaving the boat, take a right, walk along the canal and cross the footbridge after which look ever so carefully for the first whole in the wall that would barely accommodate you and suitcase on the left. That will be the 'street' that the hotel is on. The rest of the way is much friendlier, I missed it and wondered around in the dark :) ... I'm biased and love Italy! On the website I did not notice that they offered breakfast, so that was a pleasant surprise. ... The location for the money was unbeatable! The stairwell had a strange odor, but let's face it how long do you spend in the stairwell? Everything was great. ... Breakfast is included. ... I'm recommending it to friends as a wonderful value and great location.

Exceptionally helpful man called Franco who booked us in at a wonderful restaurant on the first night ... Stairs carpets need attention as dangerous. Stair rods missing or broken and easy to fall especially if carrying cases. ... In a great location between the Rialto Bridge and St Marks Square. ... Centrally located, basic, clean and the staff were lovely

The level of service at the reception desk depended on who was at the reception. There were three hotel staff, two were very helpful and very friendly and one was quite unfriendly and unwilling to offer advice regarding local services. ... Clean and comfortable and in a good location

1. Staff always freindly when passing through the lobby. When they were asked about excursions they were most helpful. 2. The bathroom facilities in our room were above standard expected in a Italy 2* Hotel ... Very centrally located, Ideal place to stay in Venice. Bathroom moden and clean.

The hotel is in a great area it is amazing value for money considering how expensive Venice is. It is within a few minutes to piazza San Marco and the rialto as well as the luxury shopping area. I woud definitely reccommend it or stay there again!

We had stayed in the hotel 4 years ago in winter and had a nicely decorated room overlooking the street. We expected that all the rooms were like that. On arrival, however, we were allocated a room with much less space and very much smaller bathroom on the very top floor at the side of the hotel. Decoration was very standard. Air conditioning did not work although the ceiling fan was efficient. We were not entirely satisfied with the room and requested a change of room. The reception staff were able to accomodate this the next day for which we were very grateful.
... Rooms overlooking the street are very noisey!! Excellent central location

The room was worse than expected and was in need of a good cleaning and painting. The bathroom was need and as we expected. ... This was rated a 2 star but was far below the 3 star level we usually book. Prices of Venice motivated us to try a 2 star rated property. Knowing the difference between 3 and 4 Star properties and using this as a measure, the Alcyone is closer to a 1 Star. ... See above comment under checing out ... Don't stay there, spend the addtional funds to move to a 3 Star

My husband and I arrived separately. I asked to use a phone so I could track down my husband and was told that it wasn't working properly - I didn't believe them. ... The room was very small and well used. Main heating unit didn't work, but there was a small separate heater that had been provided. TV had switches missing, so it was difficult to turn on. ... Location is very good, but rooms are very small and well used. ... I describe our room as a bed with walls around it. But again, the location was wonderful. I think because of that, the staff doesn't try as hard, as they are probably always full.

Due to another customer cancellation the Hotel kindly upgraded us to an apartment. The hotel staff were very polite and kind. Myself and my partner had a wonderful stay. thankyou. ... No need to change anything and we would gladly return. ... Ideal situation for travelling around to see the sites of Venice.

The guy was very friendly and when we asked for a nice Osteria he offere us a good one just near the hotel. But he didn#t helped us to carry any luggage. ... Due to the normal price range in Venice we were not expecting this hotel. We stayed in the dependance( so we can't tell anything about the hotel itself) and we were very lucky when we noticed that we have air condition. Also the price range of the minibar was not much more than in the supermarket. The breakfast was very good if you compare with normal italien standard.( Juice, coffee, fresh bread and croissant, eggs, jambon,...) And it was just inbetween Rialoto and Marcus Square( one night it was noisy from the street). So at least we were suprised about the standard for this price in Venice if you see the other hotel prices. ... Positive: with air condition ... It was a clean hotel, with air condition, very moderate for venice price situation in hotels.

The property was very central which was very good. However, the rooftop terrace which was advertised was not in use and the breakfast room was extremely cramped so we generally ate out for breakfast. We were a party of four and the tables only sat 2 and were very close together. ... See above ... Ideally located, basic, clean and friendly.

not happy that we were made to pay in full on check in instead of check out. ... This is not a complaint because I think the hotel was good value. I travel often in Italy and I thought the cleanliness and general decor of the room needed attention. Furniture was beautiful, walls dirty and peeling, bathroom, excellent hairdrier-wouldn't expect in 2 star, however toilet not clean and toilet seat broken. I would say the Alcyone was a 2 star, not 2 star superior as advertised. ... We were made to pay on check in which I was unhappy about because it meant I had to pay with my credit card. I was staying with a friend and we intended to use up our Euros at the end of our stay but one does'nt want to risk using them up at the beginning. It gives a bad impression to make someone pay just before they see the room. Compared to inflated prices in Venice, given the location the Alcyone is good value. Last Nov I stayed at the Goloriz next door, room was nicer but price was considerably more. ... In my experience, I do not think our room met the standards of 2 star superior. ... Compared to prices in Venice, which are high, this hotel is good value and the location is excellent, pretty furniture but quality of room in general a bit squallid. Definitely not a room for romance!!!!!!

The reception staff were all very friendly, helpful and spoke good english. There was always someone at the reception desk. ... The pictures online made the hotel look better than it is. ... We missed the terrace. Forgot to look for it. The weather was very hot during our stay but there was no air conditioning, not even a fan. This meant that we had to sleep with the windows open all the time which was very noisy at night as our room was on Calli de Fabbri, between San Marco and the Rialto. I thought the hotel was a little bit tatty ... I don't mean to be negative. We enjoyed our stay and the staff were very nice but we would probably not go to the Hotel Alcyone again. It's location was ideal. We intend to revisit Venice but we have seen other hotels where we would rather stay

The receptionist who welcame us at 8 pm was very nice and helpful. ... The receptionist who worked during the day time (morning - early afternoon) was not so polite or nice at all. He never smiled or showed warm heart to us. The fun in toilet could not be turned off so it always make great noise during using which was annoying. Breakfast was too simple.
... too basic but ok to sleep over. good location at least.

The place was clean and good. However, the room was very hot because the AC was not turned on. We opened the windows to let fresh air in but we could hear noise from outside. Other than the AC, the place is good and well located.
