Museo Palazzo Mocenigo di Storia del Tessuto e Costume: The premises of the Centre for the Study of the History of Fabrics and Costumes as well as a rich library specialising in the subject.
Church of San Nicoḷ da Tolentino (dei Tolentini): A 16th century church based on a plan by V. Scamozzi, featuring an eight-columned Corinthian portico inspired by the Palladian style.
San Simeone Grande: Founded in the 10th century it has undergone heavy alterations.
Santa Maria Mater Domini: The Church of the Holy Mother of Christ contains interesting examples of Renaissance art like The Martyrdom of St Christine a work by V. Catena, sculptures by L. Bregno.
Palazzo Corner della Regina (Palaces): A noble 18th century building in a classical style, built from a design by Domenico Rossi.
Palazzo Marcello (Palaces): Rebuilt at the beginning of the 18th century in neoclassical style, it was here that the composer Benedetto Marcello was born in 1686.
Palazzo Mocenigo (Palaces): The palazzo was the residence from the 17th century of the San Stae branch of the Mocenigo family, one of the most important families of the Venetian patriciate.
Teatro Palafenice (Theatres and cinemas): From the fire of 1996 that destroyed the theatre, it is under this big tents that the manifestations of the lyric theatre take place. |
