Facilities within the Property

Restaurant: The 'Al Vagon' restaurant has been managed by the family since 1950. It is located in the same building as the hotel, on the canal side. It has a large inside room seating around 100 and a typical "portico-covered" area alongside the SS. Apostoli small canal where, from April to October, you can eat in a romantic atmosphere, with gondolas passing by and away from the tourist hordes

Our menu: We recommend the following appetizers from our menu: Grancevola (spider crab), Sarde in Saor (soused sardines) and Misto Pesce (mixed fish platter). Our first course specialities include risotto alla Marinara (seafood risotto), Spaghetti in Camicia Nera (spaghetti in squid's ink), Bigoli in Salsa (thick, home-made spaghetti with onions and sardines) and home-made potato gnocchi.

Main courses include excellent Venetian-style squid with polenta, baccalà (dried cod) pounded or stewed, mixed fish (grilled or deep fried) and our delicious Al Vagon fillet steak. Our desserts are all home-made: Tiramisù, Crème Caramel, Panna Cotta (cooked cream) with forest fruit sauce, Apple Tart and typical Burano biscuits with "Vin Dolse" (sweet wine). The restaurant offers typical Venetian cuisine, both fish and meat, as well as numerous Italian and international dishes.

Nearby Facilities

The Hotel "Al Vagon" is situated in the area of Cannaregio between the railway station of Venice S.Lucia and St. Mark's Square. In the surroundings there are many shops and bars. Close to the hotel our guests can find the "Al Vagon" restaurant managed by the Grinzato family since 1950, a bar, some shops and an Internet Point. In "Via Nova" (400 metres from the hotel) our guests will find several typical shops of Venetian masks, gift items representing the Venetian culture of art and handcraft
