very friendly with excellent advice on where to eat and what to do at that time of night in venice (approx 20:00 hrs)including a vist to the christmas market of whos existence we had no idea. ... excelently stituated 10 mins from the riallto 5 mins from acadiemia and only 10 mins from st marks via good shopping distrect much closer to everything than seams at first but also wonderfully secluded ... as above plus it was like being in a friends house rather than a hotel which only added more to the expirence

It was very close to the Water bus Station and well positioned for a trajetto. ... We really enjoyed our stay and would stay again. We were very grateful for the Manager's very good command of English and the staff were extremely friendly and cheerful. we would recommend this place to stay to friends as the area it was in was close to Piazza San Marco but far enough away to be quiet. ... The manager arranged our water taxi for us by phone and carried our luggage when it arrived. Much appreciated. ... Friendly, convenient, good value, fun.

OWNER OF PROPERTY PROVIDED US WITH THE BEST TRAVEL SERVICE AND COURTESY THAT WE HAVE EVER RECEIVED. THANK YOU SO MUCH FOR MAKING OUR STAY A MEMORABLE ONE. ... THE PROFESSIONALISM OF THE PROPERTY OWNER AND HIS ABILITY TO STEER YOU TO A GREAT VARIETY OF PLACES WITHOUT ALL THE TOURIST TRAPS AND HIS ABILITY TO SPEAK 4 LANGUAGES AND THEIR TERRIFIC BREAKFASTS. ... BEST VALUE FOR MONEY EVER.

Iwas very pleased with Diogini Vitale, his mother and staff. He in particular was very helpful and thoughtful in answering my questions and trying to help my stay relaxing and fun. ... Small, very homey and relaxing. Diogini goes out of his way to make sure things are comfortable for you.

Fittings slightly shabby, and rooms where quite dark but overall the rooms were well kept. We enjoyed our stay and would recommend the hotel to other visitors. ... Fantastic location, central to all sights. Very spacious rooms although a bit dark due to proximity of other buildings and weak light bulbs!

Very nice location, staff were helpful. Some tea or coffee making equipment would be a nice addition. The room was a little bit cramped. ... Staff were very helpful with our luggage. Value for money is relative - everything in Venice seemed expensive - but the hotel compared well with others. ... Well located, friendly, easy to get to, nice neighbourhood, real feeling of being in Venice with a canal right outside and only a few hundred metres to the Grand Canal

34 steep steps need to be climbed to check in. Glad I am not 65 years old. ... Great location. just off the S. Angelo Vaparetto stop and and area with less tourists. Also, just a short walk to Piazza S Marco. ... This is a charming Venitian hotel recenlty given accolades in Lonely Planet. The breakfast is tasty and filling and the staff helpful. There are some stairs to climb with no elevator. Not really much opportunity to do laundry so do it before Venice or after. Air conditioning was a real plus in June.

It was very straight forward. ... Mr Vitale was excellent. His English was super, he answered all my e-mails and he was very helpful in clarifying our flights and taxi. ... We had an early start - to be at airport by 05.30. The staff member got up especially to help us with the water taxi. the service was personal and helpful - but not intrusive. ... Just that Mr Vitale and the staff were very helpful - there was little evidence that running their hotel was just a business. The family room was what we needed ( 2 adults and 2 adolescents) and we would recommend it to any family. The personal approach was the difference. ... Small, not like a hotel, personal, clean and safe with Mr. Vitale, the owner a man who appeared to 'give a damn'.

We phoned Locanda Antico Fiore after getting off the vaporetto at San Angelo. They sent someone from the hotel to guide us to the hotel which was only a short distance away.
... For someone who could not manage stairs it would have been difficult as the stairs to our room were very steep. Staff were helpful. They advised us of some good local places for dining which turned out to be excellent in quality of food and cost. ... Well situated for access when managing suitcases. Clean and cosy. Breakfast room rather cramped, however this made for easy conversation with other guests if one wished to engage. We were able to walk to most places.

we arrived by water taxi at the water gate and there was no way to contact the receptionist other than by banging loudly on the door for five minutes, much to the annoyance of the water taxi driver. Some form of bell or buzzer would be a good idea. ... very helpful with keeping the luggage past normal checkout time as we weren't leaving Venice till the afternoon. ... clean; friendly; very well situated; good value for somewhere as expensive as Venice.

The directions given were very helpful and in the end sufficient, but as a first-timer to Venice, a detailed graphic map would have been more reassuring. ...
We found the staff to be very helpful during our short stay, always ready to help in anyway, or to answer questions. I would stay in Locanda Antico Fiore again. ... ...
Some advice about Venice in general would be useful e.g waterbuses - prices, times, or distances to sites of interest from the hotel. ...
A clean and friendly family-run B&B, with its own natural charm, in a typical venetian setting, not far at all from S.Angelo waterbus stop - so no need to fret about having to lug your luggage too far. You'll have an enjoyable stay.

so nice, that we would choose locanda antico fiore also the next times when we intend to go to venice !! ... when you go to airport we suggest to take a water taxi (it much more expensive but it is worth) because they pick you up at the water-door at the locanda, you dont have to carry your bags, just get on the boot. this is a very cool and exclusive feeling. ... positive: if you are a non-smoker you will be lucky because it is forbidden to smoke anywhere in the house. negative: if you are a smoker => opposite
=> you should mention that antico fiore is a non smoker hotel. ... very autentic place to stay if you want to get a feeling of the real venice - Bernd

The only negative aspect to the stay was the pungent odour in the bathroom - maybe that's just the famed Venetian 'smell' ... Great location, nice and peaceful and yet a stones throw from all the San Marco attractions.

The gentleman at the reception was extremely helpful & gave us maps & was able to give us times of the local Water Bus. ... The stairs from the entrance hall up to reception & rooms is very steep, & I wouldn't reccomend it to anybody with joint problems. ... The dining area is very small, & is in the reception area, which is a bit strange.
... Small & in a very quiet spot, & easy to get anywhere, but away from all the crowds.

Our room was tiny and smelled rather damp. The air conditioning unit was huge taking up one whole wall... the room was baking hot so we switched on the air con but this was noisy and had no temperate setting, only very cold.
When we arrived it was very late and we needed some water - for the price we paid I'd expect some drinking water in the room. ... The rooms are very small and additional facilities like an iron are not available without asking. ... Small, damp smelling and a bit run down. Expensive for the standard of accomodation. On the plus side it is clean and in a reasonable location for attractions.

Whilst in general the majority of staff were polite, we found what we think was the manager to be quite rude. The room given to us, was quite small and had a slanting roof which made getting around the room very difficult as it was very low in most parts ... Different

Surprisingly easy to find, thanks to the instructions from the web site. ... I will recommend the Locanda for my friends. Would stay there again, if I have a chance to visit Venice. ... In spite of our very early check out, the staff was helpful and prepared us a breakfast even though it was not breakfast time. ... Good location, very clean and neat, good value for money.

We found the Antico Fiore a little farther from St. Marks and the Rialto than we anticipated. With our 2 and 1/2 year old boy still in a stroller for most of our walks in either direction we had quite a time going up and down the stairs over the canals etc. We have been to Venice several times, but one always forgets these things. Next time we will try to be a little smarter about location vs. price. ... Please refer to my note above. ... Good but a fair distance from St.Marks and Rialto.

The room was very very little, it was on the roof-so we could not stand in all parts of the room. The price (100€)was too high for this room with shared bathroom. We have been very disappointed. ... I wished to pay less for this little room.
