 Hotel Bel Sito & Berlino is located in Campo S.Maria del Giglio, one of the most attractive squares in Venice. In front of the hotel there is the Church of Santa Maria del Giglio. Its façade, monument that celebrates some glories of the Barbaro family, magnificently rich of sculptural decorations, attributed to Giusto le Court, was realized by Joseph Sardi between 1678 and 1683, in baroque Venetian style.
In the mirrors of the superior order, naval stages of battles, vessels and ships, castles, places and episodes of the life of the Barbaros are illustrated. Upwards we can see the coat of arms of the family and allegorical statues. The church is among of the oldest ones in Venice. Among the various works of art we can mention:"I quattro Evangelisti" by Jacopo Tintoretto (1557), "La visita di S. Elisabetta" di J. Palma il Giovane (fine sec. XVI) and "Il Salvatore, S. Giustina, S. Francesco da Paola" di Jacopo Tintoretto (1592). Within walking distance there are the "Fenice" theatre, St.Mark's Square and Rialto Bridge. |

Coming by Plane: From Marco Polo (Tessera) airport you can catch a shuttle service called Alilaguna, which generally leaves every half an hour and take at St.Mark's Square in 60 min. From there you will be able to walk to the hotel in 5 min walking distance: take Calle Valleresso, turn left onto Calle Larga XXII Marzo-Calle delle Ostreghe and you will arrive in Campo S.Maria del Giglio. Otherwise catch waterbus n. 1 from St.Mark's Square to "Santa Maria del Giglio" stop. The Hotel is at the end of the narrow alleyway, right in front of the façade of the homonymous church. Alternatively, you could also take a private water taxi to the hotel. Otherwise you can catch a bus or a taxi from the airport, asking for Piazzale Roma, the Venice bus terminal, where you will find the waterbus (line 1) every ten minutes, which will cross the Canal Grande and lead you to the Giglio stop.
Coming by Car: From all directions A4 highway up to Venezia Mestre exit, then cross the bridge called "Ponte della Liberta'" and reach Piazzale Roma car terminal. Park yout car and then take the vaporetto line 1 and get off at the stop 13, called "Santa Maria del Giglio". The Hotel is at the end of the narrow alleyway, right in front of the façade of the homonymous church.
Coming by Train: From Venice S.Lucia railway station you can reach us by waterbus. Take line number 1 up to "Santa Maria del Giglio" stop. The Hotel is at the end of the narrow alleyway, right in front of the façade of the homonymous church. |
