We arrived early in the morning from the airport and were welcomed in spite of the fact that our room would not be ready until 2pm. Staff could not have been more helpful. We were given a map, hints on getting around and finding somewhere to eat. On our return our luggage hsd been placed ready for us in our room. It was an excellent experience. ... The owner-manager of Ca Doge is bi-lingual English and Italian so there are no language difficulties to overcome. As we had booked a suite we were also offered a free excursion on the lagoon visiting Murano, Burano and Torcello, three of the most visited locations. This was a superb added bonus. Ca Doge is not situated in the prettiest part of Venice but the advantages of its location far outweigh any concerns about the view. It's impossible to get lost.. all signs across the city direct you back to the Piazzola Roma. You don't have any problems with baggage as it's located right at the 'entrance' to Venice. We felt sorry for the people we saw dragging heavy suitcases over the footbridges hunting for their accommodation. Everywhere is easy to get to as Ca Doge is literally across the road from the train station, the main vaporetto stop and the bus station. we walked across to San Marco in about half an hour.
... Check out was speedy and polite even when we wanted to leave at 7am to catch the shuttle back to the airport. We can't wait to go back again! ... We were offered a free half day boat excursion with our suite. ... Smart, comfortable, convenient and friendly. We can't believe how lucky we were to find Ca Doge and now are planning a return visit as soon as possible.

Confused with the directions. It was much easier to get there by foot (about 10 min) than taking a water taxi. Please inform people that it is directly across from the bus station in Piazzale Roma. Very close to the train station!! ... The staff were exceptionally nice, and spoke English very well. Overall a wonderful experience in Venice. We loved that the hotel was within close walking distance to the train station. Do not be deterred about the location. Piazzale Roma is safe, and a walk to Piazza San Marco took only about 20 minutes. Plus you get the benefit of finding all of these wonderful little side streets/canals filled with shops! ... Small hotel with a good quality breakfast in the morning. The rooms were spacious, and very quiet in spite of the location next to the bus station. Lovely hotel, lovely staff!

My husband and I were very satisfied with this hotel in every way and would recommend it to others. Thank you. R. Larson ... Friendly staff. ... Excellent location (though somewhat difficult to reach if you have heavy bags because you must either traverse several sets of steps or haul bags onto and off of the vaporetto), excellent, well-appointed rooms and friendly, helpful staff. Given the high cost of hotels in Venice, Ca Doge is excellent value besides being a thoroughly pleasing accommodation.

I would suggest providing a map with a location of the hotel. ... I was a little surprised that it was so close to the parking garage, and there was a little more noise than I anticipated.

Perfect location. Venice is a very confusing city, it is hard to fnd directions anywhere. This hotel is at the very best location possible. With any other hotel you would not have private parking and would have to carry suitcases aound as you wonder through the maze of streets and water taxis. We had to walk or take water taxis for 20 min to reach site seeing destinations. ... Bathroom appeared to be new. ... Room was small, although that is typical for Venice. ... Room was basic. Location was great for parking a car and it is nice not to have to walk around the city with your suitcases.

I was very disappointed in the fact that we had to change rooms the second night to a smaller room, because the hotel accepted two reservations/payments for the same room. We didn't like the fact we had to move to another room after unpacking our items the first night. ... The hotel did adjust our rate for the smaller room, but we didn't like the inconvinence of having to move from the suite to a smaller room. ... I would describe the hotel as a great place to stay if you want to get a reasonable hotel for the price. Although, I would let them know to get confirmation on their rooms prior to arriving.

The satelite unit of the TV in our room was not working and even though we drew this malfunction to the staff's attention every day, it was not repaired during our 3-day stay. This meant that we had access to local TV only, none of which was in English.
The shower water pressure was low and the drains in both the shower/bathtub and sink were sluggish.
