Very friendly and customer orientated staff. ... Ca Riccio was well located to most attractions and beautifully renovated. The bathrooms were a highlight! ... There were restricted hours specified for liaising with the family. However the family was very flexible in agreeing to us checking out outside these hours. ... POSITIVE: • Delightful breakfast • There are many stairs but the family was happy to transport the luggage ... An updated but typical Venetian home with accommodation on the top floors - so beware of carrying heavy luggage!
The accommodation was surprisingly modern and tastefully decorated. The bathrooms were well appointed and the breakfast a surprise every day.

It was welcoming and warm and a relief after a long day to find such a great room with amazing service and charm. ... This was our favorite stay out of our whole trip. ... Incredibly helpful and warm staff that go above and beyond to make you feel comfortable and welcome. ... A warm and extremely clean room with a really comfortable bed, the friendliest people we met in Italy, a 'hit the spot' sweet breakfast. We would recommend it highly and plan to return one day!!!

Not all street names were on the map we had, & we were not sure how to get to the hotel so I phoned them. Christiano Riccio was kind enough to come to the vaporetto stop to escort us to his hotel & helped with our luggage. ... The room was absolutely wonderful. Although the mattress was too hard for me, it was fine for my husband. There was a softer single mattress 'cot' underneath our bed & it was perfect for me. Breakfast was in a lovely, cozy dining area & the pastry was always excellent. ... Once again, Christiano was there to help. The staff was very gracious & I would highly recommend Ca Riccio! Hopefully, one day we will visit them again.

on arrival we were offered a nice cool drink which we truly appreciated and allowed to leave our luggage as we arrived far too early to take over the room so that we could just go out and enjoy venice ... we were amazed that we had a little fridge and hairdryer neither of which were mentioned on web site. we also met people who had stayed there before that in itself speaks louder than words.we could not fault ca riccio and i have already contacted the owners to thank them. ... no problems at all ... the fridge and hairdryer and the ample dining space ... cute and well worth the money exceptionally clean considering you are actually staying in venice because i viewed some dumps on the web by the way we are Joe an Lynn Tonna from rabat malta

the hotel was easy to find, the staff were extremely friendly and helpful. The room was ready. ... The only problem we had was one morning - the Sunday when we had a lie in till 9 am, the water was cold in the shower. Apart from that all was very good. ... I would say it is conveniently situated yet very quiet which is a good thing. It was very good value for money and extremely clean. I had recommended it to a friend even before we stayed there from the description on the web and wouldnt hesitate to stay there again or recommend it to my friends.

my only problem was with the bathroom, specifically the shower which could not cope with a normal amount of water and flooded. I did mention this but nothing improved. ... Exceptionally nice staff, good breakfast, very quiet accommodation. It's situated in a very pleasant area of Venice with good 'local' shops and a very good atmosphere: lots of local residents too.

The fact that we got lost is not surprising for Venice. This happened many times over the following three days and is part of the charm of this city. However upon arrival a simple map with landmarks eg the hospital, Fondamento Nuove and Rialto bridge would be appreciated. ... Breakfast was 'Italian' with great coffee or tea. The room was spacious and very quiet. ... Fantastic location especially if arriving by water to Fondamento Nuove.

The only improvement might be to bring some more bread or rolls at breakfast. ... Very friendly to leave the bags in the lobby and leave some other bags in the private rooms of the family. So we enjoyed also the last day before we left Venice. ... A small room for 2 adults and 2 kids, but as expected. It was declared for 3 people but we mentioned during booking that its not a problem when your younger daughter will sleep in parents bed. Very nice people. A modern bathing room - which is not common in Italy. We absolutely will recommend it and will come back next year.

Despite telling them we were arriving in the afternoon, we had to wait 3 hours before anyone was available. ... The staff were delightfully helpful at all times. Breakfast in our room was excellent. Cleaning was of a very high standard. ... A delightful small privately-owned B&B place within easy reach of the Rialto and St Mark's and with a good selection of shops, cafes and restaurants in easy reach.

When landed in Paris, I went to book our train reservation from Paris to Venice, only to be told that there were no seats available! Our only option was to delay our arrival by one day and when we showed up on the 5th of June, we weren't sure about having the reservation because we had been a 'no show' the night before.. I had tried calling but got no answer. In any case, we took the boat to Fondementate Nove, walked about for 15 minutes until we found the location. We rang the doorbell, we were greeted very well under the circumstances! We were given the room we rented, got great service & enjoyed the stay tremendlously! ... Beautiful city, great location at Cà Riccio, quiet little place with big value! We loved the fact that we could walk to all the sites or take the boat to Murano. Thanks to all the staff and management. Great for our honeymoon but keep in mind for the seniors, lots of stairs. ... We came back at 11:30 am not knowing that check-out was at 11, so the ckeck-out was taken care of when we arrived. Once again, great stay. Grazie! Ciao.. Eric & Yvonne ... Big positive - LOCATION! Take the 52 or 51 from the train station, the 42 to get to Murano island. ... Great location, quiet place, yet walking distance to all the hustle & bustle. Loved it!

The directions were confusing as you get off the water bus on Fuodamente Nuove. It said to turn left but it did not look like the right direction because of the construction. Maybe there should be signs pointing to Ca Riccio as soon as you get the water bus. After you get past the wooden stairs it was even more confusing and the map was no help at all. We came upon some people who pointed us to the right direction. ... A room at Ca Riccio is like a room at a 4-star hotel! We couldn't have asked for more. We got more than what we paid for. The room with private bathroom was beautiful and very clean. The breakfast was excellent. The croissant was served warm and the servers were very attentive. We went to 4 cities and the room at Ca Riccio was far the best. I highly recommend the place. ... no ... A room at Ca Riccio is like a room at a 4-star hotel! We couldn't have asked for more. Christian at Ca'Riccio was extrememly pleasant and great to work with! The room was fine and cozy. If someone is looking for a 4 star hotel, this is not it. However if you want to feel like you are welcomed into someone's home, this is the place. Truly enjoyable stay!
... I don't remember if it states anything about the stairs on the website, but it should be mentioned that if you have trouble with stairs, this may not be a great location for you. ... Small and cozy, clean bathrooms and general facilities... provided all the basics one would need for a trip to Venice. The location is close to just about everything, only a 10 minute walk to St. Marks, Rialto amongst others. Christian gave several great recommendations for restaurants within a 5 minute walk from the B&B.

Arriving in Venice must always be interesting, we were able to follow the directions given even though it was night time when we arrived. ... We were very happy with the Hotel. When my sister was sick during the night they were helpful with getting a doctor and making us tea - much appreciated. What we would have liked is our own kettle and tea cups for making tea. The map supplied by them was a bit hard to read (photocopied) maybe just my eyes are getting old. ... Very clean, quiet, nice view through window. Very polite staff with good command of English language. Just needed tea making facilities - these are always included in Australian and English hotels.

We read on the web site that the B&B could be hard to dind. We called when we arrived by water taxi and the owner met us at the dock and lead us in, pointing out places to eat, etc on the way. We really appreciated that, although my husband was sure he could have found it himself. ... We really enjoyed our stay. The room was decorated with a chandilere of Borono glass. Perfect for the room. ... We left early to catch a water taxi and only had to leave our keys at the desk. ... Quiet. A little out of the way, but worth the extra walk.

very welcoming and helpful, map was provided and info on the local area ... what a place to stay. we asked for a quiet room, with a view, as this was our honeymoon and thy didn't lt us down. our room was huge, with a great view out of the little window. We didn;t hear any other guest during our stay. ... we had a very early flight and the hotel was very helpful, checking us out the day before and ensuring that we knew where to get the water bus from etc ... lots of stairs into the hotel, from the street, then further on to our room. not for the elderly or frail (but then is venice?) ... the hotel is in a perfect location, very near to the rialto bridge, but quiet and private. rooms are very comfortable and spacious and the family who run the hotel are very helpful

We quite enjoyed our stay at Ca Riccio. The staff was quite accomodating - calling us in the a.m. to doublecheck that we wanted breakfast (we often slept in). The rooms were very clean and well-decorated, and noise was never an issue. ... The staff was kind enough to hold our bags for us after we'd checked out and allowed us to keep our keys until after we'd picked up our bags. ... I think the directions were a bit unclear. They obvious tried their best but they need to modify a bit (somewhere a right was actually a left etc.)and of course it is easy to get lost in the Venice in any way. ... Excellent accommodation (in context of the rate of course) and I will recommend it to friends or visitors and will go there again myself. Not often that accommodation is better than what one can gather from the website - usually a lot worse, so this was a pleasant experience. (Maybe a curtain in the shower will help??) ... Unfortunately no lift if you have heavy luggage but when we arrived we were helped with the luggage. ... Because everyone says Venice accommodation is very very expensive we were a bit worried because usually you get less than what you pay for in 'cheaper' places. I got what we hoped for and more - very clean (most important), spacious enough, nice bathroom and towels, aircon etc. and a simple but good breakfast and nice and friendly staff. The location is also very convenient.

The on line address did not include the exact street name. I am still not convinced that Ca' Riccio is located as is shown on the on-line map. The only sign for Ca' Ricco is a small (1.5 x 5 cm) brass sign on the door, along with about 4 or 5 other similar sized signs for the other residents. Quite frankly, I would not change this by adding a larger sign. The small sign adds to the quaintness and gives a feeling of being a Venice resident. However, perhaps the on-line instructions should indicate that the only sign is very small and that the door can be identified by the flower boxes on each side. ... Ca' Riccio is run by the family. We dealt with the sister and brother, I believe. They were very helpful and very courteous. However, we had the feeling that they were a bit uncomfortable dealing with us, perhaps because of the language, perhaps because they were busyy, or perhaps for other reasons. Dealing with clients is always a challenge. Some clients are flexible and some are very difficult. We suggest that the Ca' Ricco family should relax. They were just perfect and should only try to do their best to accomodate their clients. They should expect that some clients will be impossible to please and they should relax and enjoy the interaction with the other clients. ... I checked 'very good value' above. However, this is a qualified response. Because of the weak position of the US Dollar during this period, everything in Europe is very expensive for US citizens. ... A street address including the street name should be included. I also suggest that the Ca' Riccio family should prepare more detailed instructions on how to find the hotel. Theses can then be 'cut and pasted' into an e-mail and sent to each client who books a firm reservation. I suggest that the instructions should read something like 'We suggest that you take the vaporetto to the Fondamenta Nuevo landing. Alternate routes may appear to be shorter on a map, but those routes require that you go up and down the steps of the bridges over canals. Consequently, they are much more difficult. When exiting the vaporetto landing at Fondamenta Nuevo, turn to the left and go approximately xx meters to [the street named _____] . Turn to the right down [the street named ______] for approximately xx meters until the street named ____. ....----...... About xx meters from the end of [the street named ______] you will see a door with two flower boxes mounted on either side. There several very small (1.5 x 5 cm) brass signs on that door. One of these signs reads Ca' Riccio. You have arrived. Ring the bell and we will come down to welcome you.' ... Very nice, very new, excellent ambience, and with very good owners.
Regarding the question on 'privacy level' below --I do not understand if this is for the publishing of the review on line or if it relates to comments passed to Ca'Riccio. Of course, it is perfectly OK to pass my full review, name and any other data to Ca'Ricco.
