The hotel was very nice and we enjoyed staying there, the staff were very freindly and tried to speak english not very well but it was better than our italian. ... We did not have a problem but some other guests complained of lack of hot water for showering, we saw the hotel staff activly trying to do something about this. The room was a bit cold but the radiatores were on and working fine i put it down to the age of the building. ... It was a nice freindly place to come back to after walking for miles, well situated, comfortable as a base from which to explore venice. For what we used it for it suited our needs 8 out of 10.

During my visite we encountered a thunderstorm at 1:00 am. However we were unable to obtain access into the Hotel since the evening staff was sleeping and did not wake up for '40' minutes. Myself and another couple waited in the rain untill he finally came to the door. To say the least we were not happy. ... Great view of canal. Rooms are very clean and moderate to large accommodations.

We received a very hospitable and warm welcome, even knew our name before we spoke! ... The rooms were not huge, but very clean and well decorated. The Mini-bar was great! ... No signage referring to the hotel from the square where it's located. As it's relatively tucked away, it was hard to find first time. Also, as it's very close to one of the many canals, the 'Mozzies' are plentiful and extremely hungry!! However, the hotel are good enough to provide you with a 'plug in Mozzie repelant - free of charge. ... Excellent, wonderful, very romantic. Venice is expensive, but we were aware of this before deciding to go.

the hostess was very friendly and helpful and made us feel like valued guests immediately ... The room was delighfully quaint and unusual and clean, and well equipped with mini-bar. Breakfasts were excellent. The hotel is situated perfectly for exploring the best parts of Venice Island. We could reach evertything we wanted to see easily on foot. The prices are much more expensive than in other Italian venues, but that seems applicable to Venice in general, not just to Hotel Centauro. ... The staff arranged for water taxi to take us to the airport and quoted us a certain amount. The water taxi driver charged us about 25% more than we were quoted, and we were not in a very good position to negotiate at that stage, as we had a plane to catch. ... Typical Venetian atmosphere - ornate decorations, easy access to canals with singing gondoliers - small and homely, yet efficient and professional. We will stay there again.

We followed the directions and found the hotel easily. ... The actual room was smaller than we expected and we were slightly disappointed with the terrace, but I think that was more our pereceptions! Room was very clean, and nice and warm. ... Slightly pricey for size room, but it was Central Venice so I suppose to be expected. ... Good clean and warm hotel, centrally located with lovely breakfast :-)

Navigating the streets of Venice, particularly with luggage, is intrinsically difficult. Would be nice to map out a route with a minimum of canal crossings. ... We really liked the hotel. Rooms are tiny by American standards, but that's Europe in general and probably Venice in particular. Breakfast was good. Location was good. Liked the staff a lot. ... Good central location. Nice rooms. Friendly staff.

Please make a more clear map. Details are needed on that map. ... I highly recommend this place for those wanting to spend less but wanting amenity in many ways in your stay. But, make sure to well prepare for the detailed direction how to get there. Get yourself a detailed map before your departure, especially if you arrive there at night and after many hours of travel with jet lag. The last street called 'Locande' is tough to find as its sign is haf broken on the wall. If you come from the San Marco Square, then find Timberland (outdoor shop) as a good landmark to turn left to get to the hotel. ... Even the little room I stayed (single without a toilet or a bath) would satisfy you because the toilet was always very clean and the bathroom as well. Few people use it anyway, I guess (most use their own facilities).

Hotel was very hard to find. We arrived at Rialto as told in the email, but then we wandered around in the heat lugging our suitcases for 45 minutes asking directions all the time and no one knew of the hotel. Venice is very hard to navigate, better directions are a real necessity. ... Staff was very helpful about directions and places to eat. We really appreciated them. Breakfast was wonderful and the lady who served it was super professional! ... Better directions - a must. ... Perfect for Venice. Great location and lovely rooms.

Firstly, the receptionist was fanastic, very nice, good advice and she upgraded us to a canal view. Hotel is very easy to get to from the Rialto vaporetto stop. ... We had a lot of trouble finding accommodation in Venice (something not outrageously priced at least), and got very pleasantly surpised with this hotel. Hotel is in a great location, very close to St Marks square, and basically everywhere is walkable in Venice. We bought a 3-day vaporetto pay but hardly used it. Breakfast was very good; rooms were clean, very good size and nicely furnished; bathroom small, but new with a great shower. Canal view was awesome.

The hotel was being renovated and we were sent to their B&B around the corner which was lovely so their was no problem. ... We were shifted to their B&B however our experience was positive ... Very large clean room, right near San Marco square with a canal view, top floor however very small lift so we took the stairs + heavy doors so better for fitter travellers. Beautiful Venetian Decor

We had bad experience with insects first night. ... Fifth floor without elevator would have been struggle for some people.
Shower very small. ... Quiet character hotel close to major sightseeing attractions & transport links.

A single room was not available for the first night of may stay so I had to change rooms after the first night. This was OK, but not what I was expecting. ... The rooms were not exactly spacious but again were OK. ... Reception failed to give me a wake-up call, just as well I had set my mobile to alarm! ... Convenient, central, very clean, good breakfast, good value

From info given I expected hotel to be not far from St.Marc's. The best way to reach it was from Rialto bridge. ... With dollar rate as it is I payed more than expected. After checking out I was able to leave my luggage in the hotel until departure. ... No rooms on the ground floor, only first and second floor and no elevator. Refrigerator in the room with some snack food, nonalcoholic and alcoholic beverages for reasonable price. Very convenient. Very easy to reach from Rialto bridge, I would come back just for that reason. I stayed in the room without the shower and used the shower and toilet on the floor. Shower door does not open very wide, worked for me, but bigger person would have problems.I never saw anybody use the facility, did not have to wait and they were supper clean. It is worth to take the room without the shower if one wants to save money.
... The location was the best feature, very easy to reach from Rialto bridge. Very clean room and shower. Breakfast was OK, staff polite. I was able to leave my luggage in the hotel after checking out.
