The owner asked me to pay on the day before checking out, which was ok by me as I had my credit card, but someone paying cash would need advance warning. It happened to a student also staying and she had to rush out to find a bank.

The hotel is very quiet and peaceful yet only one minute from shops and bars. It is ideal for couples and singles rather than families I would think. although there was a family there at the same time as me.

After we reach the owner we had not problems: she was very polite. The apartment was what we expected. Great location, a few steps from Piazza San Marco. A microwave will be very useful!!!!

The history of the building. The fact that the location is excellent for access to the San Marcos and the Rialto areas of Venice. (Venice is a lot smaller and the distances a lot shorter than visitors suspect!

We couldn't have been made to feel more welcome by Marina. On arrival we were treated to beverages. Marina gave us a brief guide to the city including places we 'must see', as well as a recommendation of somewhere to eat, which she then booked for us.
Marina gave us the ideal start to our trip after a long and tiring journey.

The staff (Angela) are excellent. Nothing is too much trouble. The personal touch is far greater than you would get at a faceless hotel.
The rooms are all unique and spotlessly clean.
In staying at Locanda Ca' del Console you feel as though you are getting a true taste of the city and the people.

If you want to stay in the Hotel all day and enjoy the facilities then don't stay here.
If you want to get out and explore with Locanda Ca' del Console as your base, and most people do, then this is the best place you can stay at whilst in Venice.
The hotel is brilliant, the staff are brilliant and the location is brilliant.

A map to arrive would be helpful because it is a small door but it is a detail.

We requested exact details by email as we were not arriving until after dark. We received a rapid response detailing which water buses to get on and where and almost step by step instructions to the hotel.

The hotel volunteered to let us leave our luggage during the day and when we returned to pick it up offered us use of bathroom facilities, even providing fresh towels.

They were very friendly, waiting us with some refreshments and champain (!)...

I would absolutly suggest the place to stay there. It is positioned very close to Rialto and St Marco, so it is the heart of the town, although it is in a silent street.
Friendly hotel with polite and helpful staff.

It was a little difficult to find because the entrance is in an alley and is not well marked.

We loved staying here. The rooms were large and filled with beautiful antiques. The bathroom was large and clean. Marina and her staff were so friendly and helpful to us. They also have free internet available to guests. It was very quiet as well. The breakfasts were great!

It's a small bed and breakfast with large air-conditioned rooms filled with beautiful antiques. They have a wonderful breakfast buffet, especially the apple-filled croissants. The staff were friendly and very hospitable. We would definitely stay there again.

We were very confused and concerned when we arrived because we were lost and it was past 9:00 so we didn't think we could check in anymore. We called the hostel and the woman did not speak much English but said her son would come for us. He did, and walked us to the hostel. This was good, but it should have been more organized beforehand. The directions should be much clearer as far as what watertaxi you take and how to go from there (all they say is some numbers and 'a few steps from St. Mark's'--well, which steps!!!) and it should be made clear ahead of time that someone can meet you at Rialto Bridge.

It took us 1 hour to find the place but that was down to a poor map. Once we arrived the staff were very helpfull , we were provided with a decent map (free) and the fridge in the room had complimentary drinks. Just what we needed after the 1 hour walk to cover the 5 minutes distance from St. Marks square

We stayed at the apartment which is some distance from the hotel. It was a long walk from St Marco with the suitcases.

The apartment was comfortable but the kitchen was very basic and the oven could not be used. Also, the outside garden was only an enclosed yard with washing lines from flats above. Other than this it was enjoyable.

We had to return to the hotel to pay because it was on a credit card and not cash. At the hotel I had to use the credit card machine as the staff on duty did not know how to operate it.

It is comfortable, but the garden is not a garden and the kitchen is not equipped to a satisfactory standard. The equipment appears to be all second-hand from someone's home.

We had got lost and the owners son came to get us and made us take note of all the landmarks on the way, rarely have I had such personal care when staying abroad, I was very impressed from the start!

Couldn't have found a better hotel!!!!
It was quiet and charming, the only craveat we did not like were the beds, instead of a double bed we had two singles pushed together, this made sleeping difficult as we were constantly falling inbetween the beds as they moved apart during the night.

We were given clear and pricise directions to finding the way back to the airport, above and beyond the call of duty which I am very grateful for, much better then my last visit to Venice were we were rarely given advice at all and left to find our own way around.

What a wonderful hotel, all the staff polite and friendly, not to mention exceedingly helpful during the stay from check in to check out, the facilities were amazingly well maintained and clean and despite us getting lost once and locked out once we were never treated with anything but the utmost kindness. I cannot recommend this hotel more! Hoping to go back again next year.

I booked a single room for 3 nights. The single was not available for the first night and so I had a double to myself, at no extra cost, and moved into the single after breakfast the following morning.

I checked out at 10.am but as my flight was not until late in the evening the hotel had no problem with me leaving my luggage with them until I collected it at about 5.30 pm.

Quiet, friendly, clean with well appointed en-suite facilities. An excellent breakfast. Interesting and quirky decorations & furniture (but in the nicest possible way. Very convenient for both the Rialto & St Marks, being only an easy stroll of 10 minutes or so to either of them. I would have no hesitation in using this hotel again.

It took along time to find as the address wasn't comprehensive enough, I would include (Off Campo San Maria Square). Language barrier made checking in a little difficult especially as the registration form was also in Italian but we managed.

Description could have been more accurate, it was very nice more of a tranditional boutique venitian B&B than a standard 3* hotel. Was neither better nor worse than advertised just different.

The hotel is difficult to find when it's one's first time in Venice. We were expecting a hotel-type front to the building, and the only indication that it's Locanda Ca' del Console is the little doorbell!

Locanda Ca' del Console was wonderful. The owner/manager was so friendly and helpful. She even gave the children a gift of one of those large Venetian cookies shaped like a man on a horse.
Breakfasts were good, but the bread was disappointing because Italian bread is usually so good. Good coffee was always on offer, though.
Venice was freezing while we were there but the hotel was wonderfully warm with easy-to-regulate heating, unlike a lot of hotels.
We have already recommended this hotel to others!
By the way, we were very impressed with the veniceby.com website. Very informative about such a wide range of hotels.

We stayed in the apartment Santa Croce, which was much bigger and more comfortbale than we had imagined. We received a very warm welcome and some excellent tips about the area.

We loved being a the Santa Croce area, as it is quite local and we could see how the Venezians live. We enjoyed drinks on the piazzas in the quarter and the kids all played together. There were some fantastic cheap restaurants that we were directed to.

The arrival experience was fantastic after a lengthy travel. The only item I would suggest is that the hotel obtain a signpost outside the main door. I almost overlooked the paper sign on the door.

A truely Venetian experience. The rooms exude a rich sense of history whilst maintaining a clean sense of modernity. Attentian to detail was paid in terms of the interiour decorating as well as in all the staff's approach to their guests. Wide variety of breakfast ooptions and wonderful service - a truely pampering experience. Bottled water was always readily available. The inclusive taxi boat trip to Murano as well as the inclusive tour of the process of glass blowing was such a thrill. Even if glass is not your interest, the trip is well worth it. I would highly recommend this Hotel.

The room and reception area were beautiful. The staff was very helpful and personal. The afternoon drink and time with the owner was wonderful. She gave gifts to the women guests!
There could have been something written in our room which explained: 1. that there was an aftenoon drink 2. that we could take waters from the bar 3. that we could order different coffees at breakfast. The food at breakfast was fine.

My friends and I had a very enjoyable stay. The staff was extremely knowledgeable and answered any questions we had about Venice. I will definetly stay at Locanda Ca' del Console the next time I visit Venice and have recommended it to others I know who are planning a trip to Venice.

We mentioned that we would be leaving Venice for Milan later that afternoon and when we returned from the days sightseeing, the woman at the front desk had printed us a train time schedule and left it with our luggage. This was very helpful in letting us know when to get to the train station.

Our flight was late but they were very accomodating when we evetually arrived some 2 hours later than expected.
Better signage at the door would be helpful especially as we arrived when it was dark.

The acomodation although slightly off the beaten track was very central for all of Venice. Surrounded by some excellent restaurants catering for all tastes.

You wonder where you are entering when first locating the hotel but what a surprise when you go through the enormous door to the accomodation.
Magnificent large Rooms decorated in a traditional style in keeping with the buildings age. Shower and toilet facilities excellent and almost new.

Our arrival went according to plan. However, there did seem to be some confusion over the length of stay. We had changed our stay from 3 nights to 4 nights (confirmed by the revised voucher from VeniceBy)and it seemed that the receptionist was not aware of this. This did not cause any problem and the stay was agreed to be 4 nights.

We did not stay at the hotel but were provided with a small apartment which was offered and agreed at the time of booking via VeniceBy.
The apartment was reasonably equipped with cooking facilities: ok for preparing breakfast and light snacks. Generally, the apartment was good value for money.

We checked out at mid-day and were allowed to leave our baggage for later collection prior to leaving for the airport - this was very convenient.

We have no prior experience of renting an apartment in Venice, so it is not easy to make a valid judgement. However, the apartment was good value and we were happy with our stay there.

very easy to get to from the train station and only 5 minute walk to the rialto bridge. A supermarket and lots of shops and restaurants just around the corner!

Not a very modern or pretty apartment, but clean and very good location. Travelled with a toddler and buggy and easy access as on the ground floor. The Canneregio part of the island is very pretty and lots of restaurants, shops and a supermarket just around the corner. Would recommend to anyone staying on the island for a few days.

Finding the hotel was difficult as there is no clear entrance or sign that you are in the right place. The only indication is a domestic looking doorbell with the name of the hotel written next to it. This was not mentioned in the directions. On arrival, although there was somebody to greet us, they did not speak any English. This was the case for the duration of our stay. Also, only on arrival were we told that the hotel had a problem with the water heating, and no hot water would be available to us. As we were only staying for one night, this wasn't too much of a problem, but had we been intending to stay longer this would have been unacceptable, and as we had not been told in good time, it would have been too late to arrange alternative accomodation.

The staff were very helpful, despite the language problem, as mentioned. Services and facilities stated on the voucher that were unavailable were - Bath (there was no bath - there was a shower, but no hot water available) and mini-bar (there was a mini-bar in the room, but it was not properly stocked, containing only 1 bottle of water and one can of lager). The property was not exactly as on the web site, but it was neither better or worse. I have had to select one of these options above to due the nature of this questionaire.

The price we paid for the night we had booked was as stated on the voucher. It transpired that we needed to stay on for another night due to flight cancellations, and for this second night we were given a 30 Euro discount, due to the continued absence of any hot water.

A more detailed description of how to find the hotel should be included, i.e that there is no visible sign or reception and that one should look for the appropriate door bell. It could also be mentioned that water taxi's can drop you off or pick you up from a canal directly outside the hotel, and that the receptionist is quite happy to book one for you.

After some initial problems, I found the hotel a very interesting and unusual place to stay. It may not be exactly what you're expecting, but there are many details about Locanda Ca' del Console that make it a great place to compliment your experience of Venice.

I got a small and wrong room.The first to nights I was not in the room which I should have. First after contacting one of the staff which spoke english I got the right room the 3 last days. This was dissapointing.
