 Giudecca is a quiet and peaceful island located opposite to Venice. St. Mark's Square can be reached in only ten m. with water bus "Vaporetto". The area is full of charming cafés, restaurants and shops. Boat trip, exscursions to Padova, Treviso and Vicenza can be organised. The main place of interest situated on the island is the Church of Redentore, which was built in the 16th century by Palladio in thanksgiving for the end of a terrible epidemic. Every year on the 3rd Sunday of July the inhabitants celebrate this event with fireworks and music and it is on most spectacular feasts you can admire in Venice. |
