This place was a treasure to find!!! One of Venice's best kept secrets I think! We loved it and would definantly stay there again and no place else. The rates were the best in town, we were actually worried since it was so cheap! It was 7 minutes walking from the Rialto Bridge with great dining and places to get a drink. Our room was very modern and immacualtely clean. The pictures don't even do it justice it is so beautiful. They have their very own glass producing furnace factory and sell the glass material to artists all over the world, they also offer 1week mosiac classes for up to 6 people. (when we got there, there was 6 women there from California, all sisters and friends, taking the class together, and they were having so much fun, I told my husband I want to go back and do the class for an anniversary sometime. It's a M-F 9am-6pm class and looks like a blast!) The breakfast was served in a nice dining room with the option of dining on the terrace overlooking their private courtyard and palm trees. The breakfast was good, cereal, fresh squeezed juices, delicious fresh fruit, yogurt, groanola, rolls, etc. They only rent 5 rooms, most of their business is in the glass, so when we stayed there, other people there were like 'Wow, how did you hear of this place-because it's such a best kept secret!) We even got maid service when we slept all day and didn't leave the room until 5pm, came back late that night and our room was spotless!! Now how often does that happen!!? Valentina was a lovely host to us, she's a gem! ... the website doesn't justify it ENOUGH!! I can't believe it, we were SO pleased! What a creative place to stay, so new too! ... I would say, YOU GOTTA GO THERE!!!

Even before we left for Venice, I received a personal mail from Mrs. Valentina with special guidelines how to reach the bed and breakfast, the telephone number etc. So the hospitality already started then. When I arrived, it was Mrs. Roberta who was expecting me because she knew my name. Very very nice and personal. ... Perhaps it's better this way, but I didn't know that I was going to stay next to the fabric where the original mosaics are made for the sagrada familia for example. Perhaps I didn't mention the pictures so much, but it will never come close to the reality. ... I'm very much afraid that next time it will be more expensive. ;-) ... When you arrive in the dark, don't expect a sign of B&B with neon lights, it's an authentical house. Family is very friendly to show you the process of the tiles in their fabric.
... The best ever in Venice. (But I would mention to who I said it, not to people who want to party, not for younger people (even it is not so expensive))

The place is great. We even got a free tour to the glass factory nearby. The location is perfect, a few meters from the nearest waterbus station and a 10 minute walk to the sta lucia train station. ... I would highly recommend this place to anyone who would want to stay for a night or two in venice.

Not only did they come to meet us with umberellas, as it was raining heavily, but they also provided umberellas for us if we decided to go out that evening. We were very grateful. ... We enjoyed our stay so much that we are already making plans to go back next year. The staff were very polite and extremely helpful. ... I had some very heavy luggage and poor Valentina carried them up the stairs for me! Over and above the call of duty, I would say. Very friendly and welcoming! She even made us coffee! ... The rooms were filled with beautiful mosaics, I loved every minute! The only problem I had was that the bed was a bit too hard for my liking - but I did get used to it! ... Valentina found someone to help with our (very) heavy luggage. We took a water taxi to the airport and Valentina stayed with us until it arrived! Arrivederci! ... There is a mosaic workshop on site, as well as the foundry where they manufacture and hand-cut Orsoni smalti - absolutely fascinating to watch! Everyone was very friendly. ... As above.

Domus Orsoni is a special place. We were treated to a tour of the gold leaf glass mosaic foundry at the conclusion of our stay. Remarkable! Why would anyone want to stay at an enormous hotel again? ... Artistic, unique, uncommon experience. ... We were unusually lucky to find this 5 room hotel associated with an active foundry dedicated to the craft of gold leaf glass mosaic. How completely different from a Hilton can one get?

Domus Orsoni is a little off the beaten path, but that is what we were looking for. It's a couple of blocks from the nearest bus boat stop. ... Valentina is a very gracious host, and willing to help with any questions about Venice. The rooms are very clean and the mosaics throughout Domus Orsoni are beautiful. ... They allowed us to keep our luggage there for a few hours after we checked out, which was appreciated. ... We had an enjoyable stay at Domus Orsoni. It is clean, quiet and in a beautiful setting both inside and out - especially in the back. The owners are very hospitable and the mosaics are beautiful.

The B&B and mosaic class were phenominal! We loved our room, the bathroom, and the property was entirely exquisite! We have already recommended Orsoni to friends and family and will continue to do so. Don't hesitate to stay here. It's a quiet neighborhood convenient to all. Enjoy! ... If it is possible for you to take the class that they offer for you to learn how to create mosaic, please do so. It wasn't cheap, but so worth it. It gives you less time to see the city, but more time escaping work and home while you construct something creative. ... A relaxing place of true beauty.

It was difficult finding the place and when we found it, the bell wasn't working so nobody was coming to the door for a while what made us feel unsure about being at the right place. Also because there is a very tiny piece of paper with the name of the hotel, by the bell, that we actually missed the first time. But after all it was a fun experience talking to the neighbors and trying to figure out if it was the right place or not! ... We were happily surprised by the hotel. We didn't expected to be a gallery as well and loved seeing the mosaic art as well as the workplace attached to it. I wished we could have seeing the people at work -I actually didn't ask, but I thought they could make this be part of the whole experience. One thing we didn't really like in the bedroom was the bed. it was not a double bed but two twin beds pushed in together. ... The fact that is the house of a mosaic artist and that is part of a gallery. ... Beautiful!!! Surrounded by art. Loved the fact that is in a more residential area.

It is more like a B & B than a hotel, so there was no reception as such, but the woman who runs it was there and very welcoming. However, she is not always there on hand, so it is worth ensuring arrival time is agreed in advance. Would have been helpful to have the full address and telephone number supplied before I went: my luggage was lost and the airport asked for address and telephone number of hotel to forward my luggage when I arrived. I could give directions but no address and they needed the telephone number to confirm delivery. ... It's a sweet place, the rooms and bathrooms were very nice. The woman who ran it was really lovely, friendly and helpful. ... Again, as Valentina the woman who runs it is not always there, I checked out the night before, so this was no problem. ... Domus Orsoni is not in my favourite part of Venice, so I don't know if I would stay there again, but the B & B itself is lovely. The room decor is modern but not bland: the rooms are above a glass mosaic factory - and run by the same family - that's been going about 100 years, and all the rooms and furniture are decorated with gleaming glass mosaic. The breakfast is excellent and can be served on a sweet terrace. The woman who runs it is charming and helpful and speaks English. If someone wanted to stay in that part of Venice I'd definitely recommend it.

Map of Venice and information booklet given to us on arrival ... 2 very minor comments - no soap in bathroom & no shower curtain over bath. Have not been to Italy before - maybe this is common here? This did not spoil our stay as everything else was so wonderful ... Web site does not state the the alternative for double rooms - ie does not give the option to book twin room. These are available - but we needed to email to find out ... Good location - stunning mosaics - world famous in their sphere. Really clean and friendly. Most interesting place. Felt priveledged to have stayed here

the room was good, the bathroom very spacious, however there was no air conditioning which was promised on the voucher, as a result we had to leave the windows open , & it was very noisy as the pedestrian traffic could be heard throughout the night. still not a bad hotel
