Su e zo per i ponti - 2nd Sunday
of March
Is an exhausting marathon in which
the partecipants run across the streets and bridges of Venice.
Festa di S. Marco - 25th of April
S. Marco is the patron saint of Venice
and this celebration is characterized by a gondula's competition
in S. Marco's basin from S. Elena to Punta della Dogana.
La Sensa - Sunday after Ascension
Day
This is the "marriage" between
Venice and the sea celebrated by a parade of gondolas.
Vogalonga - Sunday after La Sensa
Hundreds of boats take part in this
regatta from S. Marco to Burano and back for a distance of 32 km.
Festa del Redentore - 3rd Sunday
of July
Venice remember the end of the pestilence
of the 1576 with an impressive bridge of boats through the Canale
della Giudecca on which people can reach the church of Redentore
to follow the mass and then the lagoon to assist to a choreographic
show of fireworks.
Regata Storica - 1st Sunday of September
Gondoliers and other boatmen compete
in a regatta which starts with an historical procession along the
Canal Grande.
