Had a minor problem with shower that was quickly corrected after notifying front desk ... Clean, comfortable with excellent value and location

Like most sites in Venice, the hotel is a little hard to find. ... We found everything about the hotel to be better than we expected for the price. Not many bargains in Venice but this is one.

small hotel, good atmosphare, well located, very quiet, little expensive (as everything at Venice), small rooms, simple but clean and renovated bathrooms. If you donīt care about prices (which seems to be valid for all hotels and restaurants at Venice) then the hotel could be very well recommendated

Not very welcoming. No help offered with bags. Receptionist sent us up to room , despite the fact that it had not been serviced. ... Good location...great restaurant attached...don't expect much in the way of service from the front desk.

We were pleasantly surprised to have been granted our email request of an upgrade to a room with a canal view and a lovely balcony. ... We enjoyed the atmosphere of the hotel immensely. The location was convenient, and the accomodations perfect for our needs. We will be recommending this hotel to family and friends.

Reagrding the rooms: Even though our room had a very nice view the actual room was very run down. It seems that the particualt wing of the hotel has not been renovated. Also upon arrival the bathroom was not particularly clean.
Regarding breakfast: The buffet was fairly poor in variety and quality. ... The fact that some rooms are renovated and some are not. There is a leaflet in the hotel that shows some rooms and they look rennovated unlike the ones in the right wing (over a canal) that we stayed in. ... Very convenient location-wise. Part of it is very run down and generally overpriced for what it has to offer.

The three previous nights were paid for by the Venice Commune as I was working on the 'Lucian Freud' exhibition at the Museum Correr, so my arrival at the hotel was in fact 3 days earlier than the single extra day booked here by me. ... As I have stayed there before I know the facilities well, and particularly enjoyed the breakfast in the garden each morning. ... For Venice the hotel is very good value for money, very central for my commuting needs to the museum daily and of course ideally situated for tourist sites. ... The hotel periodically hosts its own artexhibitions, some of which art was still on the walls, and catalogues in the rooms. ... Great, but no minibar in single rooms which was a shame. I have also recommended it to a colleague on honeymoon

Actually we had asked for two beds, there was just one but large enough to be comfortable. ... Most conveniently located to the new Fenice opera house and not too far or difficult to reach from the Vaporetto

We found teh whole experience very efficient and easy ... We found the fact that there were no shower facilities in the bathroom a distinct disadvantage. I would have liked to know about this beforehand as it is an expectation. ... Pleasant, small hotel with very friendly and helpful staff and lots of great paintings on the walls. Close to the very centre of Venice. All you need, apart from a shower facility in the bathroom.

As stated by othter guests, we also confirm the weekness of breakfast quality which is not satisfactory for the room price to be paied. For a hotel of high standard like La Fenice, there is no excuse to serve instant !!coffee or tea from automatic, low standard maschines!! The coffee was practically undrinkable

In fact, I have already recommended it to both colleagues and clients. Very easy to use and full of information. ... Very helpful and friendly ... I had a great stay. I was aware of the hotel from a previous visit to Venice but I had never been inside it. Clean, friendly, and my room was bigger than my first apartment! I will definately be back. ... I had to check out very very early in the morning--it was about 4am I believe. There was a computer problem deducting my travel agent discount but the night manager was incredibly patient and ran it through several times until it was correct. I was very happy with the service and attention to detail. ... Maybe mention the construction in the large building nearby? There were lights on but then I always keep my windows open so maybe others didn't even know about it! Otherwise, everything was as expected--and better! ... Easy to use and I got what I wanted. ... I have raved about the hotel to both friends and clients. Great location (once you find it but that goes for all of Venice!), clean, excellent bathroom, friendly staff, interesting clientele.

I do not actually recall being given directions to the property online, but I did not need them because I had been there before. ... Frankly, I did not expect a balcony nearly as large as our room. We LOVED everything about it. ... The day before we left an employee escorted us to the dock where the motorboat would meet us (at five o'clock in the morning). This was a lovely thing to do, even if unnecessary because of the excellent map we were given. ... The people behind the desk are EXCEPTIONALLY helpful, everyone of them. Cleaning ladies do a firstrate job. ... Spectacular.

Great place to stay. Very helpful staff, wonderful location, nice garden and sitting rooms which make up for the small size of the rooms which are typical of Venetian hotels of this class. I would stay there again, and my travel companion plans to return there with her family at Christmas.

We loved the location and our room with the terrace. We were a little disapointed that the bar was not attended. ... The decor is a little tired, but the location makes up for any shortfallings. ... Great value for money. Our bedroom with private terrace overlooking the little canal was a welcome haven from the hussle and bussle of the crowds.

Would be nice to have someone to take the bags to the room, but we managed!! ... It would be nicer to have a better breakfast - fresh fruit, fresh juice, proper plain croissants ( as opposed to sweet ones) and some more items. also would be nice if the receptionists were more informed about what is going on in Venice culturally, more helpful about the actual destination. ... MOre information about the restaurant which was good. ... Charming friendly hotel very well located for sightseeing, perfect for the Opera, which is why I booked the hotel. Reasonable value for money.

A more detailed map highlighting the path to walk from the vaporetto stops would be helpful ... I stayed in two different rooms. One single room that was very very nice. The twin room was also nice but not as good as the single room even though larger. ... Value for money is difficult to assess as this is the only place I have stayed in Venice in recent years. ... I liked that fact that it had a varied collection of real paintings throughout. ... A lovely place near the opera house La Fenice with good staff and a feeling of history.

I got off at the wrong stop and was a bit lost. I called the hotel and they sent a staff member to find and escort me to the hotel. They were wonderful. ... The only problem I encountered was with the mosquitoes. However, the hotel staff provided a device which helped with this problem. ... Warm, charming, friendly and an excellent location.

A disappointment was that there was work being carried out in the courtyards so that we were unable to sit outside at all. As this was one of the resons we had chosen the hotel it was a shame. ... I was disappointed at the very small size of the room as I was traveling with a companion and the hotel was not very full.
But, the hotel is charming, well-located and breakfasts in the garden were delightful. ... Again, I was under the impression from the web site that the room would be larger. HOWEVER, the furnishings, common rooms and gardens were lovely. On the other hand, we left Venice for Bellagio where the room was twice the size as advertised and far more luxurious for less money. (I understand that Bellagio is not the big city that Venice is.) ... SIZE OF ROOM!!! ... Lovely, charming but small rooms, particularly by American standards.

Comment to item 8:

I always like staying at the La Fenice Hotel. Its location is ideal; it is quaint and quiet; the people who stay there are also polite an decent. This was my 7th stay at this hotel. The only thing I wish was not to be on the top floor--had to carry my luggage up a steep flight of stairs.
Dr. Elaine A. King ... See above ... very smooth. ... I've stayed here many times. Pleasant setting for breakfast and a nice choice. ... I always recommend this hotel and many friends have also enjoyed it.

Everything handled with clarity and dispatch. The billing at the hotel was exactly as promised with no extra or hidden charges. ... The concierge immediately obtained information about an opera performance that day, which allowed us to get tickets and attend. ... I had stayed at the hotel some 12 years earlier. But I still had a hard time finding it. That is true of almost everything in Venice, however, not only the hotel. ... The front desk directed us to the boat waiting to take us to the airport. ... because the information at the website was accurate and reliable. ... I would have liked to know that there was work being done right next to the hotel (on the Fenice theatre), so that sometimes early in the morning and sometimes late at night there would be construction noise. Also, there should be some information about the limitations at the botton end of the room rates, as for example that the room may end up in the fourth floor (basically the attic of the building), etc. I enjoyed my room in the end, but would have appreciated knowing this fact before actually arriving there. ... Somewhow I kept getting the sense that I was not a preferred guest at the hotel. For instance, I asked for a map of Venice as soon as I arrived there, and I was given a photocopy of the blocks around the hotel. On the following day, when the attendant was trying to explain to me how to get to some place, she pulled out a real map that turned out to be the complimentary map I had requested and not received on the day before. I also noticed that my towels were not changed during the first day, and that my toiletries were limited. ... I repeat, the room I got was nicely decorated but terribly small and on the fourth floor of the building (access through a narrow stairway at the end of the hallway on the third floor...Not quite like anything you showcased in the website. And there is construction underway at present which makes it sometimes an inconvenience.... ... the construction of the Fenice next door.
the fact that the cheaper single rooms are very much smaller and not in the best location of the hotel (obvious perhaps, but worth clarifying) ... Perhaps because I have the lingering suspicion that if I had had a direct contact with the hotel manager I may have had the chance to negotiate for a better room and not feel like my opinion did not count on that matter. ... very nice, (usually)quiet hotel, with a very pleasant space for reading and lounging, hard to find (I always got lost getting back) but ideally located, with a very nice breakfast garden and generally good taste.

The room had a couple of problems: first, the room connected to another room that shared our bathroom, and it was unclear who had access to that room. Second, the television did not have access to any channels when the room two doors down had full access. Last, there was construction going on in the building 3 meters away.
The management was able to move us to a room in the other section of the hotel, but that moved us away from our companion. Other than the mentioned problems, the stay was fine. It just took time away from our sightseeing plans to pack and move during the stay. ... This hotel is in a good location. It is a little run-down in some of the rooms, but some are fine.

One of the two beds was broken and extremely uncomfortable. There was no porter to help with baggage when we checked out. ... For Venice the hotel is reasonably priced, and the staff is helpful although there was no one to help us with our bags upon leaving. The room was clean if small. I wouldn;t stay there again because the bed was broken, and formed a trough or hollow.
