Travellers Reviews

Very pleasant. We wish there had been a porter to meet the Alilaguna from the airport, as we had to lug 3 suitcases over two bridges to get to the Flora. We strongly recommend taking a water taxi from the airport to a half block from the hotel, which costs 90 Euros, versus 20 Euros for the Alilaguna.

The rooms are small but elegantly furnished. The baths are very small but not uncomfortable. Storage could be a problem for those who bring too much to Venice, as we did. Visitors should bring only essentials.

The breakfasts were superb. They will prepare American breakfasts (e.g., ham and eggs) for just 8 Euros edxtra.
...
Because we had an early flight, we had to leave the hotel at 5:00am, before the porters arrive for work. Consequently, we carried our own luggage out, as one has to do at any American motel. Since we are used to this, this was no problem.
...
The staff goes out of its way to ensure that the hotel's guests are completely satisfied. There were some rather unpleasant British guests there which the staff managed to pacify completely.
...
Small but elegant and well located. Very quiet, which in Venice is a definite plus.

We loved the courtyard after a long day of seeing the sites.

The breakfast was the best we had in Italy... included a soft or hard boiled egg.

Warm, quiet, convenient and worth the money.

The hotel itself was wonderful! But we thought we would get a room overlooking the beautiful garden, specially because we stayed for 6 nights and there was the same price for all the rooms during the period of our stay! But we got a dark room, facing a wall! The room itself was very clean and furnished nicely, not very spacious.
...
It is a very nice hotel, an oasis in Venice, I won't hesitate to go again. But I would ask for a room facing the garden! There is served a good, rich breakfast in a wonderful garden, I won't forget the feeling sitting in the morning between plants and listening to the twitter of the birds.

Excellent; no problems. I speak some Italian, so they were happy, but English would have sufficed. They had my reservation at their fingertips.
...
My single room was VERY small; but charming. I enjoyed the garden and breakfast room.
...
The US dollar has been very weak, so the room was 30% more for me than the Euro price. Rather expensive for a 3-star, especially considering the smallness of the room. But that's Venice.

I had to check out very early in the morning. Would have preferred to do it the night before, but the staff recommended a.m.

The clerk did get me a cup of coffee that early (5:45 a.m.), which was appreciated, and I sat at the bar to drink it quickly before rushing to the Vaporetto.
...
There are never any pictures of the single rooms -- always the best, most charming doubles. Might be nice to include the reality of life for the single traveler in Italy - i.e. you get the most cramped space.
...
Very sweet, charming, cozy, great location, but small rooms. By no means luxury, and maybe a bit pricey for a 3-star, even by Venice standards (for example, a 4-star exceptionally nice hotel in Gubbio was 62 euros less per night than the Flora).

In my opinion the room I was given for my 3 night stay was not of a very high standard. Certainly not worth 230 Euros per night. The ceiling had cracks in it and the carpet had stains on it.
...
We had a lovely stay in Venice, but we were quite disappointed with our room, however as it was our first trip there we didn't spend much time in it.

Clean and in a good location - but not very luxorious.

the bathroom is definitely to small and the shower basin is dangerous. It is shaped as a sitting bath tube. The walls are rounded and therfore dangerous. One can hardly stand in it. My partner fell awfull on the last morning having a shower. Otherwise we were very satisfied and it has been recommended by 2 Swiss doctors.

An ideal hotel for those who want a small hotel of charm and character, well-situated and run by efficient, friendly staff. The hotel breakfasts were excellent and so was the service.

Only 2 minus points. Our bathroom was well-appointed but extremely small. The recommendations for local restaurants were not very helpful, or rather the restaurants were both indifferent and expensive.

Airconditioned wasn't working. The single room could have more space.

Everybody was nice during my stay.
When I was preparing myself to pay I had a e-mail reducing the price in 40€ and the person wasn't very polite because he didn't want to assume it and began to argue.

A nice quite and central place to stay in Venice.
A cosy and charming place.

As agreed we had to change rooms after the first night. They were able to provide us with a better room for the second night and we paid a higher price accordingly. Some of the rooms are very small but are well appointed. The garden is very special.
...
A wonderful location with a lovely garden. Careful choice of room would be recommended as some are really too small. The hotel is very quiet and consequently noise from other rooms can be heard quite distinctly.
