 This is the only Venetian inn to be situated in the heart of the Ghetto , the island where the Venetian Jewish community were confined, in the Fifteenth Century, The name of this island comes from the Venetian dialect word ghèto (throw) which serves to remind us of the presence of a foundry here into which metals were thrown. This small Venetian island thus gave its name to a word that is commonly used in all languages. Today Venice's Ghetto, which is located near to the Santa Lucia Railway Station, is one of the few locations in the lagoon city to have preserved its ambience and fascination intact. Situated opposite the Campo del Ghetto, the Inn's residents are within easy reach of the Synagogues, the Jewish Museum and the Rio Terà San Leonardo, part of one of most popular walks in the city, with plenty of typical shops and restaurants. Only a few minutes walk from the inn, residents of the Locanda al Ghetto can choose between several small restaurants and trattorias to be found along the Calle della Misericordia, a meeting place for many Venetians. |

From the Railway Station and the Piazzale Roma (Car Terminal): Those arriving by car can leave it at the Garage San Marco in the Piazzale Roma where they will be entitled to a 10% discount.
Take a private water TAXI to the Hotel. You are advised to agree a price before embarking and to check that the taxi is authorised to carry passengers (it should have a yellow stripe on the sides and carry a concession number).
Or take a STEAMER (public transport service) line 52 or 42 to the Guglie stop. The entrance to the Ghetto is opposite the stop. Walk the length of the alley, cross over a bridge and there is the Campo del Ghetto. The inn is to your right.
From the Tronchetto (Car Terminal): Take the STEAMER (public transport service) line 82 - Grand Canal to the Santa Lucia railway station, from where you take line 52 or 42 or go on foot along the Lista di Spagna. Cross the Ponte delle Guglie, turn left and carry on until you reach the entrance to the Ghetto. Follow the alley until you reach the Campo del Ghetto. The inn is to your right.
From the Venice Marco Polo Airport: Take a private water TAXI to the Hotel. You are advised to agree a price before embarking and to check that the taxi is authorised to carry passengers (it should have a yellow stripe on the sides and carry a concession number).
Take the ATVO or ACTV shuttle bus as far as the Piazzale Roma and then take the streamer line 52 or 42, alight at the Guglie stop and proceed as above.
Take the ALILAGUNA water shuttle bus that leaves the Airport landing stage for the Fondamenta Nuove. From here, take lines 41 - 51 and alight at the Guglie stop. Walk along the alley, cross a bridge and you will come to the Campo del Ghetto. The inn is to your right.
From the San Giuseppe Airport in Treviso: A Shuttle Service links Treviso airport with Venice's Piazzale Roma and meets most flights. From the Piazzale Roma, you can take the STEAMER (public transport service) line 52 or 42 to the Guglie stop. The entrance to the Ghetto is opposite the stop. Walk the length of the alley, cross over a bridge and there is the Campo del Ghetto. The inn is to your right. |
