The room was impeccably, spotlessly clean, and the bathroom was nicer than expected. The lobby, stairways, elevators, halls, and other common areas were also impeccably clean and beautifully decorated.

The gentleman at the front desk helped us with our luggage and arranged for a water taxi for us. He also gave us good directions (in English!) to a pharmacy. He was very helpful and polite.

I appreciated very much the hotel's referral to a local guide (I can't remember her name at the moment) who led my daughter and me on a wonderful two-hour walking tour of the 'unknown Venice'. She was so knowledgeable and well-spoken, and she made the tour fun and very interesting.

Only criticism was the poor breakfast facilities. We do not like to take breakfast in our room which the hotel encouraged. It was possible to eat at just one proper table in the bar area (otherwise it was off coffee tables)would have prefered a buffet style breakfast with more choice than was available.

Compared with many other European cities we have stayed in Venice does not give very good value for money. Just so expensive !

A good hotel with friendly and helpful staff. Rooms OK ,breakfast poor but the hotel is in a great location and reasonably quiet. Overall a very nice place to stay.

Close proximity to S. Marco was actually closer than I expected--only a five minute walk.

I have already recommended your hotel to several friends. Palazzo del Giglio is centrally located and a good value for comfortable accommodations in Venice. The staff is knowledgeable, helpful, and polite.

We stayed in a large suite overlooking the piazza - not much of a view to speak of, but the room was indeed very large with a small kitchenette (though no microwave). It was very nice, the reception desk was friendly although the night receptionist did not speak English. The location was excellent - just a short walk to San Marco and gondolas were available nearby. Prior to checkout for our room, they did do an inventory, so it can take a while to actually get checked. Not a problem, but worth planning for in advance. Overall a very pleasant stay.

The only thing you could complain about was the breakfast. Rolls were dry and jam was of inferior quality.

Great location! Sylvia, who worked at the front desk was terrific!
The only negative is the fact they don't have a dining room (which I was informed of beforehand). The breakfast was delivered to the room promptly. All of the other hotels we stayed at offered a larger array of foods at their breakfast.

Friendly, professional.
Luggage was taken promplty to our room and the staff explained in great detail how to use the safe, jacuzzi, lights.
Room was spotless and the bathroom was the best we had in our 17 day stay in Italy.

Breakfast in the room each morning was a wonderful touch. Service was on beautiful white porcelain.The breads offered were fresh but I would suggest that they offer some fruit also-juice etc.
We received a complimentary bottle of champagne on our second day which was totally unexpected and a wonderful surprise.

Yes----------You should specify that Vaporetta 1 stops 50 metres from the hotel.
We took public transport from the airport which left us off at san marco square.If I would have known that we needed a specific vaporetta line to get to the hotel I may have done things a bit differently.
It was a little tough lugging our belongings over two bridges when I thought that we would be 50 metres from the hotel. This was probably not as clear as it could be on the web site for a first time visitor but we managed.

I was surpised that breafast was not included in the price but was an extra 20 euros per person.hat should be made cleat.

It seems that all of the hotel in Italy are very noisy. The windows and walls are not thick enough to keep out the people and motor vehicle traffic.

You definitely do not get the same value for your money in Italian hotels as you do in the US. Accomodations were fine but not up to US standards for that price.
