The apartment "Grandiben" is very nice and charming, completely renovated and well located in the heart of Venice (10 minutes walk from San Marco). It is set in the Old Shipyard (Arsenale) area. This is one of the most outstanding monuments in Venice, an enormous shipyard where the Republic used to build its navy from the middle ages to the end of the eighteen century. The monumental apparence we can admire today is from the sixteenth century. |
An important Museum of the Navy is near the apartment, overlooking the "Riva degli Schiavoni", the large sea-side walk connecting San Marco to the Shipyard and to the Biennale. This is an important area, 10 minutes' walk from Grandiben, where the International Architecture and Fine Arts Exhibition, called Biennale, takes place in September. The Castello district, where Grandiben is located, is one of the oldest: you can easily walk to the first Venetian cathedral (S.Pietro di Castello), through the charming Via Garibaldi ( excellent food stores and stalls). |
What else? The "Arsenale" stop is the first stop of the Airport Shuttle boat. From the "Arsenale" stop to the Lido (Film festival, beaches) just three stops. The excellent street called "Calle Crosera" at the back of Grandiben, will provide you with food stores, wine bars, etc. "Il Vecio Portal" is an unexpensive and simple place where to eat, a few steps from the apartment. Just as near, but expensive and smart, "La Corte Sconta". |
