There were champagne and flowers in the room as requested which was great. Given that Venice is a maze of mall streets, a map of the area around the hotel would have helped us find it far more easily. Luckily the taxi driver pointed us in roughly the right direction & we asked. ... A great location but the stairs to the top floor were hard work ... Couldn't have been easier ... A small, comfortable and friendly hotel, perfectly locate to explore one of the most beautiful cities in the world.

We had a very wonderful experience with Hotel Castello. Everything was great!!! The rooms were well decorated and the service was also very good. The staff were very polite, friendly and helpful. We absolutely loved our stay at Hotel Castello. ... Hotel Castello is very well located. It is in walking distance to the famous St. Marco's Square. The hotel is also very well decorated (in true Venetian style). The rooms are very spacy and artsy. The service and staff were all great. The pricing was also very affordable. We thought what we got was more than what we paid for. Therefore, I would definitely recommend this hotel to my family and friends. You won't be disappointed!

The room was significantly smaller than I would have expected having looked at the pictures on the website, having said that the rooms were comfortable and clean. ... A very central and more than adequate hotel for a stay in Venice. Staff are very helpful and always cheerful and polite.

Excellent location in the heart of Venice, very quiet and undisturbed. Very helpful staff. Nice rooms, very comfortable beds. The best water pressure in the shower I've ever experienced in an hotel! Always hot water.

We enjoyed our stay at Hotel Costello! The people were very nice, especially the waitress in the coffee shop, who went out of her way to accommodate us. ... Conditions of the hotel and room: The hallway up to our room (# 107?) needs to be updated. The carpeting in our room was old. But the bathroom and the towels in the bathroom were nice. ... All of the staff was very nice! However, the directions to the train station (that the night clerk gave us) weren't very clear and almost caused us to miss our train (not the hotel's fault at all, but we would have appreciated clearer instructions): We exited at the bus station instead of the train station (oops # 1), and then didn't understand until it was almost too late that our train left from Maestro and not St. Lucia (oops # 2)...! ... You should include whether the rooms are carpeted or tiled. (In my opinion, a tiled room is cleaner, which is important to me). ... Not the lap of luxury but a decent, middle-of the road pensione; excellent location, very friendly staff and clean. Our room was quiet, well ventilated and had good natural light. A good value for the amount of time one should be spending in the room when visiting Venice.

GOT THE IMPRESSION THAT THERE WAS A SAFE & TEA&COFFEE MAKING IN THE ROOMM MAYBE IT MEANT IN THE ACTUAL HOTEL, ALSO IT SAID THAT THERE WAS AIR CON BUT COULD NOT SEE ANY CONTROLS OR OUTLETS (THIS DID NOT MATTER AS IT WAS NOT HOT)CLEAN HOTEL,LOVELY BATH.VERY NOISY, FRUIT&VEG WHAREHOUSE BELOW ... WHEN WE GO AGAIN WE WILL BITE THE BULLET AND GO FOR A HOTEL OVERLOOKING GRANDE CANAL THE ONLY VIEW WE HAD WAS NEXT DOORS AIR CON UNIT AND A DOVES NEST(AGREED IT DOES NOT SAY THERE IS A VIEW AND I SUPPOSE IF YOU PAY MORE YOU GET MORE)VENICE IS UNIQUE WE HAD A GREAT TIME NOT THERE LONG ENOUGH CANNOT WAIT TO GO BACK--DO THE GONDOLA NEXT TIME ... NONE OK ... POSSIBLY THE NOISE MAYBE THAT IS PART OF THE CHARM ... NOT BAD FOR MONEY BUT MOVE A BIT AWAY FROM ST MARKS AND GET A HOTEL WITH A VIEW.

The directions supplied were very poor. The hotel told us to take the water boat to San Sacarina instead of San Marco. We had to wait for two hours at the airport as the boat person kept telling us this boat did not go to our destination. This meant we arrived when it was dark, we asked several people for directions and eventually found a restaurant employee who knew your hotel. You should devise a map with street/alley names. People don't want to hang around for two hours especially when it is cold. Not a good start to our break. ... We thought the room was good but expensive. The breakfast was not as good as our visits to Rome and Naples. Larger bread rolls, ham, cheese etc would improve the breakfast you supply to the English tourist. ... More detailed directions as previously mentioned. ... Small hotel ideal for a short break but rather expensive.

Wir haben im Zimmer etwas liegen gelassen. Der Artikel (ein medizinisches Kopfkissen) wurde uns leider nicht nachgeschickt. ... Das Frühstücksbuffet ist nicht sehr umfangreich. Das Angebot müsste besser beschrieben werden. ... Das Hotel Castello ist einfach und gut erreichbar. Nahe beim Markusplatz in einer Seitengasse. Es ist ein kleines, aber sehr freundliches Hotel mit schönen Zimmer.

On arrival we were allocated a room that was small & the ensuite was very small & did not have an enclosed shower unit. when we returned in the eve there was a very bad smell in the room ( like amnonia) We complained & asked for another room, which we were given. this was a better room! ... See above ... Old-fashioned Venetian!
