Although we checked in early, the room was available. ... There was some noise outside the hotel at night. Otherwise excellent. ... We had a late return flight and left our bags in reception. A downstairs toilet would have been an asset. ... No ... Small city hotel. Excellent position for sightseeing. Good size comfortable rooms. Good value for money. Definitely recommended.

A very good hotel at a reaonable price (for Venice. Spacious room wth good en-suite facilities. Close to the San Toma vaparetto makig it ideal for travelling around the city. Sme good restaurants within 5 minutes walk. An enjoyable place to stay (particularly if you get a room overlooking the canal).

I arrived in Venice from the airport and once off the airport coach I really did not know what to do. I was directed to the water bus which I took but really did not know where to go. I think there was a Link on the Web Site which was given to us but it was not very clear, so I think clear directions to the Hotel would be very helpful. Thanks to the kindness of various Venetians I did eventually find the Hotel Iris and enjoyed our stay there and in Venice. ... The Hotel Iris was very comfortable and quiet, would reccomend it to anyone who wanted a short break in Venice and did not want to stay in a large Hotel. ... Clean, comfortable and central. All that one requires for a short stay in Venice.

Venice is very confussing to the first time visitor, the directions after the boat stop # 10, could be more clear, go straight and turn left, to end then turn right, if the hotel iris did not have a sign high in the air, we would never had found it. ... The room's location was exactly what was stated to us in the voucher, a room overlooking the canal. The room was clean upon our arrival. We received two small bottles of shampoo, and two small soaps. Our stay was four nights, we never received any more shampoo or soap for our stay, I never said anything to the staff, and felt they would bring some, we did receive clean towels daily, which was very nice. They did bring soap and shampoo the day before we left. I feel if the guest uses the soap or shampoo they should be replaced on a daily bases, whatever the amount is. otherwise the room was nice compared to all the other rooms stays we had on our month trip to Italy. ... We checked out the night before our departure, as we were leaving early. Tony the owner was very nice, and helpful, he seems to enjoy his hotel, and his living in Italy, he has been around life in his years and has many fun stories. Check out went well. ... The web site showed the hotel like it is. The rooms seem smaller in real life, than in photo, I feel the wife, owner could be more friendly, Tony and the other receptionist were very helpful and very friendly, and always had a smile. ... Location was very central, you could walk to Rialto Bridge, and San Marcos Square, all areas were easy to get to via the Boat, which was very close by. The room was a nice room with a view of a canal, lots of good restaurant close by, and good gelato, Churches are close and great to view early evening. The experience of getting lost is part of the Italy Culture, it is fun and frustrating, just stop for a gelato and all will be fine.

Continental breakfast could have been a bit more exciting/varied, e.g. provision of ham/cheese as well as jam ... Expensive for what it was, but fair value for Venice ... Good location, clean, reasonably priced (for Venice) - breakfast left a bit to be desired

The receptionist was very cold, we felt that it was an imposition for them that we there. They were annoyed that we took the key with us. But they never explained that they keep the key. Zero, hospitality. I little more effort would have made a huge difference. Maybe I'm used to the USA customer services treatments. ... The room was nice, we enjoyed the canal view. ... none ... Very good well located, clean. But don't expect any customer service interaction

It would be helpful to know that the hotel is within walking distance of the train station -- a better alternative than taking the vaparetto when it is rush hour and one has luggage!
Although the woman who greeted us on arrival was not particularly friendly, every one else at the hotel was very gracious.
We enjoyed our stay and would recommend the hotel to friends. ... The room was clean and private. It was exremely small -- even though we expected it to be small, this was difficult to move around in because of a huge armoire in the corner and a desk chair that could not fit any place except behind the door. Also, the hotel restaurant is just below the canal-facing rooms, so it might be good to explain on the web site that these are not quite rooms facing the canal -- the restaurant and bar play music into the night. It was OK, but not a place to get a good night's sleep. ... See above regarding reference to canal side rooms having nice views but more noise than interior rooms (I'm assuming). Also reference to 'cozy' rooms might be helpful for people expecting more spaciousness. ... Great location, clean rooms, perfectly fine breakfast, mostly pleasant staff, nicely redone bathrooms. The smallest hotel room I have ever stayed in (including a room in Paris that was as small as I thought one could ever get). Not really enough room for 2 people to stay comfortably for more than a night or two.

Yes, the restaurant played the music very loud. It started at about 5.00 in the afternoon and did stop about 11.00 or a bit later at night. Depending on the wheather either only inside the house, so you could hear and feel the basses crowling through the ceiling, or also outside the house so that the whole enviroment was full of discomusic and the closed poor windows could not protect the guests from the noise. We walked a lot through the streets and had every day one or two meals in a restaurant but nowhere we heart music that loud. ... Accomodation was very simple but at least ok. The loud music from the restaurant was not acceptable. Never again!!

Was the worst reception that I received during my 12 stay in Italy, staying elsewhere in Venice later, plus other popular cities. Verging on unfriendly, but perhaps 'indifferent' in the correct term. ... The hotel was more shabby than portrayed on the web site (e.g. armchair on the landing with hole and stuffing sticking out) ; the room and the bathroom were smaller than expected. ... Breakfast is totally uninspired! Toast is provided in plastic. There is no cheese, or fruit, or fresh touch...just the absolute minimum. ... Positive: Location of Hotel Iris is good.

My husband and I found the Hotel very easlily which I didn't expect as it was our first visit to Venice. ... The Iris was reasonably quiet and quite close to a water bus stop making it ideal for us. (we did our research!) ... A helpful and pleasant member of staff checked us out. She spoke English which was helpful as I have only a little Italian. ... Venice is not easily asseccible to physically disabled and elderly disabled people - perhaps some sort of guide would be hlpful to them. I'm thinking of bridges, steps and hotel stairs, lifts. Dragging a case around Venice isn't easy. ... A nice quiet but fairly central Hotel reasonably priced (for Venice)

Restaurant looked very pleasant and welcoming so we ate there the first night. The food was fine but unfortunately the service was poor and we did n't eat there again. Waiters were very slow to take our order, one first course was finished before the other first course was delivered. Main course delivered without some of the cutlery although the waiters were pleasant. I don't think it was a bad restuarant , perhaps they were just having a bad day? ... Easy, no problems and they were happy for us to collect our sitcase later that day after checkout ... Rooms at the back have the potential to be noisy as there is a covered patio area that I think belongs to adjoining premises. ... Clean, good value, convenient. Don't expect wonderful service in the restaurant. If I were going back to Venice I would consider the same hotel

I thought that the Hotel was good value for money, given that most things on the islands are quite expensive. It was convenient for us that there was a restaurant attached to the Hotel.
The only thing that was a problem for us (2 women in their 50's), was that the room was on the second floor and there wasn't a lift. Nor did we receive any offer of assistance to our room with our luggage. ... No lift ... Budget accommodation. Adequate breakfast. A little difficult to find when arriving late at night, as we did. Quite good for younger people.

We were very fortunate to be allocated the best room in the hotel - top floor, windows directly overlooking the canal.
Our staff experience was equated directly to the age(s) of the personnel. The elderly staff (and proprietors?) were invariably polite and helpful. The younger generation - especially in the restaurant, were ill-mannered and off-hand. ... as above - great accommodation, excellent position but variable hospitality

No ... Small and quiet. Venice has been always expensive for the service it gives, so you must be aware of spending more for the same service than you would in other cities of Italy.

For the price it was acceptable, but the hotel is very worn, carpeting / flooring needs to be replaced, facilities need upgrading, and the general cleanliness of the hotel needs improvement. ... Cheap, functional lodging with a good little family run restaurant attached. It is not as clean as it could be, but, if you want to save money in Venice, this is a good choice. Excellent location away from the crowds yet very accessible.

The single room I had overlooked the dining area and was noisy until about 11.15pm. Mosquitos also were a problem and windows had to be kept closed unfortunately. ... Adequate but not outstanding in any respects. I realise Venice is expensive and I would have expected some reduction in the nightly rates for a 7 day stay.

The receptionist was asleep when we arrived. ... Unfortunately, the hotel is lacking in any charm or ambaince whatsoever. I expected a lot more from a hotel in Venice. ... The hotel is in a residential area. It is close to San Toma vaporetto stop. It is very quiet at night. There are artisan mask workshops nearby. ... The hotel is very quiet. It is located in a residential area. It is a very basic hotel, lacking in charm or ambiance. The restaurant attached to it next door however, is very good.
