The entire staff was always so very friendly and nice. The people at the desk, especially Elisabetta, were always helpful with any questions we had. They arranged for concerts, gave directions, called for a water taxi. I cannot sing their praises enough. We had a wonderful stay and alot of it was due to the staff. We have visited Venice several times but this Hotel and staff was by far the best. ... Our bill was ready as soon as requested. They arranged for a water taxi upon our departure. ... None. ... The staff was wonderful. The views from our room were breath taking. The room was clean and the furniture was beautiful. A delight.

Extremely pleasant staff, very welcoming and friendly (Elizabetta) and we each received a very welcome complimentary cold bottle of water at check in. ... The views from room 47 were absolutely breath taking. Every morning you had to pinch yourself to reassure yourself it wasn't a dream. The views probably equal the best that Venice has to offer, including the most expensive hotels-all at a fraction of the cost ! ... Staff very helpful again, nothing too much trouble. ... Fantastic location equalling / bettering the majority of expensive hotels. Good restaurant in the evenings, prime location and always busy, giving 15% discount to guests. Very good continental breakfast in a position envied by rivals. Only one drawback - no lift (4 floors).
... Absolutely first class in terms of value for money. Forget the others, this has everything going for it - location, restaurant, friendly staff, clean bedrooms and most important of all THE STUNNING VIEWS (room 47). DEFINITELY RECOMMENDED

The room, the people and the hotel in general was wonderful. The building next door was under going some very loud construction which started at 8:00 am and went all day. This was the only undesirable aspect but I understand this was out of the Hotel Pensione Wildner control. ... exact directions from boat stop. (ie. turn left/ turn right. ... Wonderful. They were very gracious and welcoming and let us know we were still wait-listed for channel view room for 3d and 4th nights. (And the next day told us we could stay in our room for all 4 nights, more Euros, but an incredible view!) Mike and Debbie ... Breakfast was excellent, steps were not too steep, and noise was not great, despite being on busy Riva Schiavone, 2 bridges from Doge's Palace and San Marco Piazza. Maybe because no echoing, since wide channel on other side of Riva. Extraordinarily convenient for bus/ferry stops to all islands and routes, and to quiet lovely piazzas a few blocks away.
... Smooth, easy. ... convenient to P. San Marco and bus/ferry docks, yet quiet. Lovely staff. ... A small, lovely hotel, near P. San Marco, yet quiet. Good value (by Venice standards). Gracious staff, good breakfast, great views across channel to other islands and Palladian church, from many rooms. A/C yes, elevator no.

We were very specific about the room desired, and we were given exactly what we requested. Front desk assistance was exemplary from the moment we arrived, the best in fact that I have experienced in any hotel on our many travels. Service was attentive and personalized. ... On grows accustomed to many hotels being a bit less than anticpated. Wildner was a fine exception, including the amazing air conditioning! ... Directions for transportation to the airport were helpful and precise. ... Rooms are small but entirely adequate, and the location and views on the lagoon are identical to those of some of the most expensive properties in Venice. ... I would only say that were I returning to Venice tomorrow, I would not waste a minute comparing other properties: I would book Wilder again at once.

Location was great 2 minutes from St Marks Square. Bedroom comfortable and quite considering the lively location. Furnishings were worn but hotel very clean. Staff friendly and helpful.
... Very enjoyable ... The only concern was that although we could leave our luggage at the Hotel before signing in and after checking out the only place provided was a cupboard in the foyer with no lock. We felt that it would be very easy for someone to walk into the Hotel and take the bags away while staff were distracted. I think they should offer more secure storage for the guests bags when left there either before signing in or after checking out. ... Very comfortable great location and value for money.

We got a private taxi but he dropped us at the Arsenale (?spelling) terminale instead of right in front of the hotel which would have been alot easier...maybe a note that if you hire a private watertaxi they can drop you directly in front of the hotel..I had handed him the copy of the directions I got off the webpage....Very minor to the stay though.... ... We had a quad room which was not seen on the web...but was perfect for us and what a awesome view we had. We were two girlfreinds each of us traveling with one of our adult children. The hotel worked perfectly for us! The entire staff at check in as well as in the restaurant were extremely friendly and helpful...we enjoyed the whole experience. ... Great value for the money...some of the others we were travelling with had a different hotel that their travel agent had set up...I muched prefered ours both in space and view! ... Again, just in regards to getting a private water taxi...it was probably our mistake...but we did have to lug heavy luggage over quite a few bridges. ... Perfect. We loved the location, the ambience of the hotel and the view was outstanding. It was a perfect way to start our 2 week vacation, which was a cruise of the Greek Islands that originated in Venice! I will be back to Venice and I will definetly stay at the Hotel Wildner. I did not see any other place I would have rather been!

We used the bus and vaporetto to get to the hotel at a cost of 3.50 euros each - excellent value and very easy to use. The hotel was in an excellent position close to St Marks Square, and right by the vaporetto stops. We were very pleased. ... The food in the hotel was excellent, and a 15% discount offered to guests. Breakfast was good, cheese, meats, yoghurt as well as cereals and rolls. ... We were allowed to leave our luggage in the hotel after we had booked out, which was very helpful ... There was work being done on the building next door - this started at 9am, so did not disturb us, and we had a reduction from 190 euros to 130 euros.
There was no fridge in the bedroom, would have liked one. ... A pleasant 2* hotel right on the lagoon front looking out at St Georgio. Nice restaurant to sit and watch the world go by (hundreds of people). Right next to the Bridge of Sighs, St Mark's square and the water bus stops. Excellent value.

The email of the hotel suggested that we take a water taxi from the Venice Airport, which would bring us very close to the jetty, near the Hotel but quite expensive! We chose to go by water bus at 1/7 of the cost of the alternate water taxi, with the disadvantage, depending on the timetable, of a landing at a jetty further removed. As we had minimal(non American) baggage, this was no problem. I would suggest that the Hotel mention the alternative that we took. ... The central location and beautiful view overlooking the lagoon more than made up for the slight shabbiness of the Hotel which we had arranged via Worldby.com. We really appreciated booking through Worldby.com for our trip, as we had no unpleasant surprises.
... See above comment about water taxi (about 70 Euros) and water buses (10 Euros.). ... What you see is what you get. 3 star accommodation, good value, in a wonderful, convenient location.

The location of the Hotel Wildner could not have been better. Fronting onto San Marco Basin, there was always lots of interesting activity ongoing. It is a very short, pleasant walk from San Marco Square which is especially excellent late in the evening after listening to the wonderful music in the Square. ... Although the Hotel fronts onto the busy pedestrian walk along San Marco Basin, the windows were of such quality that they completely shut out the sound when closed (and the air conditioning worked great). ... I would highly recommend staying at the Hotel Wildner describing it as ideally located, with a very friendly and helpful staff. I would strongly recommend getting a room fronting onto the Basin. The waterfront room gives an most enjoyable viewing experience even when simply resting at the hotel.

we were so glad it was close to the water bus station. At first the receptionist seemed not to helpful, but then we really enjoyed him and his sense of humor. ... we throughly loved our room, the breakfast and the location. Being on the lagoon was so special, and the books talk about it being so noisy on the lagoon side, we did not find that and when we closed the windows and had the airconditioning on at night we could not hear a thing!
The alcove was perfect for three adults, gave somewhat privacy for our adult daughter. The room furniture and lights looked much better in person than on the web.
OUr breakfast was the best we had in Italy and had something for everyone. I especialliy liked the plain crousant, not filled.

The water-front rooms have a moderate amount of noise from the activity below, most noticeable on busy weekends, but can be mostly eliminated by closing the windows. The hotel was very nice, comfortable, and a great location. However, we would not stay there again nor recommend it to our friends because it was so noisy we couldn't sleep. Then everytime someone opened or closed their room door (no matter what florr) we could hear it. Then, one of the nights, there was a party either downstairs or in one of the rooms and no one from the hotel told them to be quiet. That kept us up all night! ... The noise level. GREAT LOCATION - WHICH IS WHAT WE EXPECTED, AND HOTEL WAS CLEAN, BUT ROOMS WERE VERY BASIC AND POSSIBLY IN NEED OF SOME DECORATION, HOWEVER, OVERALL IT WAS STILL A GREAT HOLIDAY AND LOCATION IS SUPERB WHICH IS WHAT WE PAID FOR AND EXPECTED. ... VERY BASIC BUT IN A GREAT LOCATION, ROOMS CLEAN AND BREAKFAST GOOD VALUE FOR MONEY, BUT HOTEL IS IN NEED OF SOME REFURBISHMENT - PARTICULARLY THE RECEPTION AREA AND ENTRANCE - CARPET VERY DIRTY WHICH DOSENT PROVIDE A GOOD FIRST IMPRESSION. The absence of a lift might be a problem for those with very large or very heavy luggage. ... Clean, quiet, centrally located, and most of the staff at the front desk speak English. Excellent value. Our room had a magnificent view of the lagoon.

The staff were helpful and looked after our luggage until our room was ready as we arrived early ... I have already mentioned the hotel to several friends and said I would recommend it. I described it as a small friendly family-type pension. Wonderfully located so close to St. Mark's Square. We also found a bonus in the excellent restaurant that was attached to the hotel.

Positives The view was magnificent staff very polite, and the room very clean though basic. negatives breakfast was not very exciting and I would have preferred tea making facilities in the room. ... A brilliantly situated hotel, with the most stunning views particularly, as the sun rises over the lagoon. Spotlessly clean, basic and unpretentious.

Practical and well-located for accessing the Venice that I hoped to see.

The location was fabulous. While the 71 steps to the 4th floor were a challenge, I am sure the value was there as opposed to a much more expensive hotel. The breakfast was not very good but the dinner we ate at the hotel was fine. ... Funky but perfectly located.

I recommend only booking rooms with water view. ... for venice standards fair value. excellent location. rooms need refurbishing can be noisy, depending our your neighbours. I would rate them max **, but having said that: the view on the water beats everything!

didn't need it. ... Staff was great and helpful. ... Only that the picture of the room looks better than it does in person. ... It proved to be reputable and the cancellation policy was fair. ... Fantastic location with fantastic view. Staff couldn't be nicer. Hotel not so hot. Ceiling tile held up with scotch tape. Worn, old furniture. Although bathroom was nice. With the money they charge the place could really use some sprucing up.

the rooms were spacious, but very noisy with poor insulation between the rooms and halls ... they were very happy to arrange for water taxi to the airport ... not always an english speaking person at the desk ... clean and convenient with the basics

Only issue on directions was the waterbus stop indicated, shown as San Zaccaria but the San Marco(I think) stop was right outsude the hotel. ... Great location, basic accommodation ... You pay for a great location, accomoodation is fairtly basic but clean and comfortable.

sound-proofing between rooms was poor and it was possible to hear conversations and movements in other rooms on same floor standard for cost was not good - decor poor ... Room was spacious and clean and bathroom was good however decor was drab, dated and uninteresting. No mini-bar or tea/coffee available in rooms or tissues available as there would be in similarily priced hotels elsewhere. Stairs was in need of repair. Breakfast - better choice of fruit and breads needed. Coffee etc good.

The only reason I selected 'worse' is because the property appeared to be running on minimal funds for basic maintenance and aesthetics... More attention should be given to overall looks... The flowers in our window box were dead and some paint needed to be redone, etc. It didn't leave a first impression of the best upkeep. ... For Venezia... I wouldn't pay as much for comparable accommodations in many other cities. ... Great location! Great views from our windows overlooking the Canal Grande...

Although the Pensione was clean and central, I feel that it was not worth the money I paid. I expected it to be larger and in better condition. The photos were a little deceiving. ... Decent but not worth what I paid. I know now that there are cheaper places of the same quality. Saying that, I would say that staff was honest and polite.
