Venice is very hard to negotiate and the hotel had only a very small sign on the front door. I believe based upon the poor street signs in Venice, you could not have done any better. ... Breakfast was very good and the dinner recommendations were superb.
Towels could be better. ... Let others know that the sign on the front is like a house sign for Venice. Look carefully as you walk it is just across the canal bridge to the left if walking from the Vaporetto stop.
Nice quite location away from the main tourist areas. ... When traveling to Venice, I would definitely stay here again. It is not fancy or pretentious, just a good comfortable clean room. The courtyard is very nice for having breakfast.

The Locanda Casa del Melograno was a first class inn which contributed in no small part in making my visit to Venice an outstanding success. It was ideally located for the waterbus together with the shopping street in close proximity with several restaurants, cafes & shops. Everyone I met was very polite and spoke English which was a bonus as I don't speak Italian . A special thank you must go to the night clerk at the Locanda who was most helpful especially when I left advicing me how to get to the Piazza Roma to catch the coach to the airport. It wasn't his fault that the waterbus was on strike when I left but the kind assistance of the night clerk in another hotel enabled me to take a water taxi to the Piazza Roma and I reached the airport in plenty time.
I will have no hesitation in recommending the Locanda to family & friends looking for a small, very clean & friendly hotel in your wonderful Venice.
Many thanks Roland Guilmoto ... Please see my comments above.

Excellent location adjacent to water bus stop. Neighbourhood has a an extensive range of restaurants and cafes. The area has an air of being busy but with local activities more than tourist oriented. There is plenty for the visitor to do and to see and a great variety of shops. Transport is frequent and reasonably priced - three day ticket €22 is economical and allows travel throughout the public water bus network including the islands. The Hotel -Locanda Casa del Melograno - cannot be too highly recommended. Excellent facilities, highest standards of cleanliness, most friendly owners and staff.

If one is not familiar with Venice and water buses, I would suggest buy a map and walk to the accommodation, which is only 10-15 mins away. We had a suitcase with wheels and a holdall to carry and managed the walk quite comfortably. ... Excellent location, very clean and functional Bedroom and Bathroom. A very generous breakfast served in a very well maintained Garden. ... As above. Tranquil, comfortable and clean accommodation, yet only two minutes away from the nearest water bus station.

They had some useful maps and brochures for exhibitions, restaurants etc. The owner and staff were very helpful (e.g.using the Internet to check our flight info, etc. Continental breakfast was plentiful but coffee was not great, and really boring rolls; though croissants and real orange juice were good.
... The Strada Nuova 150 metres inland from the hotel was lovely. We found a fantastic deli for a picnic, street market, lovely shops, variety of restaurants, post box to send mail etc., all very handy and friendly. ... I have already recommended this hotel to a friend. With the Euro at over 80p against the pound, it is a modest, well located, clean and pleasant hotel which represents good value in a very expensive city.

The owner of the property was there to greet us and he was extremely helpful, courteous and made us feel very welcome (along with his dog Herculano!) ... We loved that the location was quiet but within walking distance to almost anywhere. The rooms were immaculate and the bathroom was quite large. We thoroughly enjoyed the breakfast in the garden. ... We had to leave very early in the morning. That was no problem...we paid the night before and simply left the key on the desk. ... Casa del Melograno is a little gem that we are so glad we discovered. It is tucked away in a private location yet easily accessible to anywhere. We walked everywhere from there. It is great value for the money we paid! ... We would highly recommend Casa del Melograno to any of our friends, in fact, we already have! It has been completely renovated and is immaculate with a beautiful spacious bathroom. Breakfast is served in the lovely garden (rare in Venice!). The owner and staff are extremely helpful, courteous and anxious to make sure you enjoy your stay. They helped make reservations for restaurants, water taxis, etc. We were completely happy with our experience there and would go back again for sure!

We arrived at the start of check-in and were swiftly shown to our room. ... This was a very pleasant place to stay. The staff were always friendly and keen to help make our stay a good one. ... We were leaving the property early so arranged to check out the evening before and settle the bill then. This wasnt a problem ... Not particularly ... The Locanda is very well run, with clean rooms, friendly staff and very efficient service. I would recommend this property to anyone.

Absolutely fantastic hotel. Was more spacious, clean, and welcoming then I would have thought for the price i paid. Great location near the casino, restaurants, shops, and water taxi. ... Were very helpful when checking out. They kept our luggage safe after we checked out while we spent our last day in Venice. ... The hotel was recently remodeled and looks brand new. The bathroom deserves 4 stars. ... If I ever make it back to Venice I would definitley stay at Locanda Casa del Melograno. The accomodations were great and the staff was extremely helpful and friendly.

Excellent. Warm, welcoming and accommodating. ... Superb. Cleanliness of rooms and hotel were notable. Bathrooms were a good size and ours had a bath. ... All handled efficiently ... Recommend water taxi to the hotel. It is a bit of a walk from the station with luggage. Would loved to have seen a manicured lawn (garden area a little untidy - has great potential) ... Value for money, spotlessly clean, well located, great continental breakfast and friendly staff. If you are looking for somewhere low key, without the 'bells and whistles' but well situated in Venice .... it's an absolute must. Would definitely recommend this hotel.

Our stay was most injoyable - the accommations were beautiful and clean. We loved that the hotel was small. The staff was always more than helpful. Our only complaint and it was a big one is that the air conditioner did not function properly. And during our stay in Venice it was about 93 degrees farinh/32 degrees cel. - so we really needed it. We couldn't even sleep w/a top sheet on us it was so hot and humid inside the room. And also the breakfast only consisted of bakery rolls/croissant, coffee, juice and yogurt - it was not your typical italian hotel breakfast. It did not include fruit or anything hot - no choice of cereal for our daughter. So in that regard it may have been priced a little high... ... That it is easier to just walk the short distance to the hotel from the train station and to not take the water bus. It cost my husband, myself, and our 6 yr. old daughter about $25.00 to go one stop to the hotel. The staff said to take the water bus. The walk although a little hard w/suitcases only takes about 6 minutes. ... Make sure the air conditioner works in your room before you go...but when you arrive its what a hotel in Venice should look and be like. The location is perfect. A quite secluded part of Venice. No street noise. You are on a little priceless canal. You can watch the boats go by. And during good weather you can eat in the wonderful backyard garden...

Staff was not available when we checked out, as we had to catch an early train. It did not present any real problems, however. ... Can't remember if this is on the website, but please reinforce the fact that guests should look for the house number rather than a street name - I think its easier to find that way.

We arrived very late because the flight had been delayed. After phoning from the airport we were told that someone would wait for us. We were welcomed at 1.10am! The air conditioning had been switched on which was very thoughtful as it was VERY hot! ... The garden was a bonus. English guests may like to know that tea/coffee making facilities are not provided in the rooms. Had we have known we would have brought our own for that early morning cuppa! ... A central location that was very clean, modern and attractive.

We were made extremely welcome on our arrival by a very friendly lady at reception. And in the afternoons and evenings Pierluigi and his lovely dog Hercules were there to greet us and made our stay most enjoyable. We felt like Locanda Casa del Melograno was our home away from home. ... How welcome the tranquility of the garden is after a hectic day of siteseeing. ... Great value and an excellent location and tranquil surrounds from which to enjoy Venice, and a most knowledgeable and helpful son of the owner, who manages the place and is there afternoons and evenings at reception.

The accommodation and our whole experience at Casa del Mrlograno could not have been improved in any way. It was very pleasantly designed and furnished (the bed was the most comfortable I have ever slept in!)and spotlessly clean. Breakfast served in the garden was delightful. The staff were exceptionally pleasant, friendly and helpful. The position was quiet and very convenient for the station, vaporetti, supermarket, and walking around the city. We would certainly recommend it very highly indeed. My only suggestion is to give guests the full address so that it is easier to find on arrival. ... No ... No ... A beautifully restored, small hotel with simple, comfortable furnishings and all the facilities one needs. The staff are exceptionally friendly and helpful. The garden, where breakfast is served in the spring and summer is a real bonus. The location is quiet and is most convenient for the station, catching vaporetti and exploring Venice on foot. I can't imagine a pleasanter place to stay

The young gentleman who was at the desk when we arrived was wonderful! He helped us hauled our luggage in and upstairs. ... The hotel staff were very accomodating throughout our stay. The young man who greeted us gave us recommendations for restaurants and also prepared a 'travel itinerary' to get us to the airport in time for our departure. ... When I asked for cafe latte in the morning, I was given a pitcher of cold milk rather than the steamed milk I had gotten at the other places we had stayed in Florence, La Spezia, and Pisa. A minor complaint. ... A charming, small hotel with a lovely backyard where breakfast was served. The rooms were comfortable and very clean. The location was excellent and very close to one of the main vaporetto stops.

The location and accomodations were fine. The room, and all other public spaces, was spotless. The hot water was excellent, and it was nice to have a shower AND a bathtub. We left vey early on our last day, and Pier Luigi prepared a bag of goodies(crackers, water, cookies) for us to bring with us since we would not be around for breakfast. Extremely kind of him.
... Everything about the Locanda Melograno was fine. I have no complaints about the actual facility. However, I think that the cost, 165 Euros per night, was excessive for what it was. Basically, it is a seven room house, and 165 Euros was the most we paid at any place we stayed in Italy, and this was the least fancy and had the fewest amenities (no satellite TV, no in-room clock or alarm of any kind, no 24-hour staff). So,although our stay was pleasant, I probably would not return because, even in October, when we stayed, the prices are very high. I believe, for the amount of money we paid, we could have gotten something a bit more up-scale. ... Clean, friendly, and basic, but not real value for the price.

The receptionist was very polite and helpful. She showed us our room and around the hotel, gave us the information we needed and spoke english to me when she saw how much I was struggling in italian. We did get lost on our way to the hotel, but it was nothing to do with your directions...We can only blame ourselves for not crossing a bridge when we should have to...So nothing to complain about... ... We had a really good stay and the hotel reached our expectations. It was definitely nice to be away from the busy sreets, it felt more intimate. The staff was lovely, polite, and helpful. The room and the bathroom were very clean and kept spotless for the whole stay. We really liked the garden and were lucky to have breakfast in it one sunny morning. The breakfast room is less attractive and maybe a little too close to the bedrooms, but that didn't really bother us. The only thing that we regretted was that there was some work done on the cute little bridge in front of the hotel and it was a bit messy around it and we had to use a little metal bridge. We worried that we would hear the workers drilling and hammering at 8 o'clock in the morning but no, it was nice and quiet. It didn't really bother us, only that it would have been even prettier...but i know that this is nothing to do with the hotel and it didn't affect our stay in any way. ... Again the staff were really friendly and helpful. We had to check out by 11.00am and our train wasn't until early afternoon...so they kindly offered to keep our suitcases in a locked room until it was time for us to go. It was really appreciated not to have to carry our bags around Venice on our last morning there. ... I can't think of anything negative (which is good).
Maybe you should insist on the fact that it is away from the busy streets but still only two minutes walk from it. And also that the hotel is extremely clean. And again that the staff is friendly and helpful and polite. ... A small comfy hotel...very clean and tidy with a very charming garden at the back and a small canal at the front. Away from the noise and the busy street but still so central and only a few steps away from shops and restaurants. Only ten minutes walk from the train station, which is really handy. And about twenty minutes walk to San Marco Square. Good location, nice staff, maybe a little expensive but not much more than other places with only 1 or 2 stars.

guests in rooms facing the canal/calle suffered from noise made by pedestrians, boats with ghetto-blasters and deliveries (early morning) ... no ... Nice place in convenient location. Friendly staff. Although I understand that continental breakfast is basic the breakfast and facilities were poor. We had to go and ask for hot water and cups so that we could make our own drinks and in Italy I would have expected coffee to be served in a pot. Also they did not provide any bowls for cereal we had to use cups.Absolutely nothing was fresh at breakfast all packaged goods.

Overpriced and with boring breakfast. As other places we stayed in Italy it seemed the B&B's are more interested in collecting money than offering a good and friendly experience. The rooms were however clean.
