I got worse accommodation than I expected given what was stated in the voucher. 'King size bed' meant 'two single beds pushed together' and 'with shower' meant 'with shower and no toilet'. This created unnecessary disappointment. ... The website says: 'Within 5 minutes you can find The Accademia, Saint Mark's Square, Rialto Bridge, the Fenice Theatre and so on.' The hotel was a good 5-10 minutes walk from the canal near the Accademia. ... I liked the old fashioned atmosphere. I was glad there was no television and no minibar in the room. I would have liked to be warned about the two single beds and the toilet down the hall. I think the descriptions of the facilities should be clearer. ... The courtyard at the back was beautiful. Breakfast there in the morning was a pleasure. Shame the restaurant was too expensive to dine there every night.

As a result of travel problems we arrived very late. The person who welcomed us went out of his way to help us. ... We had thought that it might be noisy because of the resaurant, but it was very quiet and private. ... A charming, friendly, comfortable place.

Arrived at mid-day, young man carried our bags upstairs, during light rain we were offered an umbrella. ... Venice is expensive as everyone knows but we received a very good value for our money. We received wonderful, personal service. ... The staff is outstanding. ... Delightful atmosphere, makes a major contribution to the pleasure of being in Venice.

This quaetion is not applicable to me, because I took the advice of one of the previous guests and took the water bus to Zatterre, rather than go to Accademia as reccommeded on the web site. This is much more straightforward, with less bridges to cross, and with help from a local person I found Antica Montin without further trouble. I am very glad I did this, as it took me a while to remember how to get back from other walks to Accademia. ... It was the perfect place to stay. I was given a tiny but perfectly adequate room overlooking the canal, and given help and advice whenever I asked about places to visit. Being small and famil run, Antica Montin feels more personal than a large hotel would.
Although I had to share a bathroom it was spotless, and only once did I have to wait to use it because it was occupied. ... Again, helpful and friendly service. I was able to leave my luggage until needed while I did some last minute exploring. ... Change the recomended waterbus route to Zaterre. ... Small, friendly incredibly central, with the perfect room for a single traveller. The owners wer patient, courteous and unfailingly helpful.

Unfortunately, we were the victims of a train strike and our train didn't arrive in Venice as planned. We arrived in Venice at 11:30PM. The water taxi dropped us off in the area of the hotel. The directions didn't match the actual street names or walk ways. We got lost. 6 other couples tried to help us and they couldn't find the hotel either. Finally, at midnight, 2 very nice Englishmen made it their goal to find our Hotel. We found it and it was closed. WE pounded on the door and rang the bell. Someone came to the door, showed us to our room and said see you tomorrow. It might have been easier to find the hotel if we arrived at 3pm as we originally planned. ... The Hotel was perfect. It was just as we had hoped. It had spacious rooms, clean, quiet, and a beautiful, beautiful, romantic outside dinning area. Just too beautiful for words.
... Very romantic. Excelent location. Close to St. Marks Square, the Rialto Bridge, everything in walking distance. ... The Hotel and our stay in Venice was magical. The rooms were very comfortable and large. We had 2 large windows overlooking a canal. One evening I pulled open the wooden shutters and looked out over the canal to listen to a local Italian accordian player playing Italian songs at a local Birthday Party down the canal. The song he was playing was the song from Lady and the Tramp, the Walt Disney movie where the 2 dogs are in Italy and their sharing a plate of spaghetti. I took a deep breath and all this emotion came over me. I was standing in my own dream and I couldn't believe it was all so real. It was the highlight of the trip. We might not have had this exp. if it wasn't for the Locanda Motin. Thank you. You made a dream come true.

I was very pleased with the room and the location. My only concern is that the staff wasn't very friendly. The staff seems to be more concerned with the restaurant than the overnight guests. ... Charming pensioni in excellent location with reasonable rates.

We were greeted with a warm welcome, although we looked bedraggled due to a downpour, we quickly revived in the pleasant surrooundings and immediately felt at home. ... Our stay was wonderful. I wish we could have stayed longer, but we would definately come back again, the hotel is quiet but close to many of the vaporetto stops so it is really easy to hop on and off to get wherever you want, there are lots of small squares, bars and restaurants within a couple of minutes walk, the hotel has an excellent restaurant and the food was superb, the clientele seems to be mostly local so they obvioously know a good thing when they find it.
... quaint, old fashioned, typically venitian olde worlde italian, very quiet and very relaxed, the atmosphere is calm and soothing and perfect for a getaway weekend, it is alos great to be away from the crowds that linger in many areas of the city and find a tranquil corner that feels honely. The hotel is not swanky or flash the walls are adorned with artwork which is extremely eclectic and maybe not to everyones taste, but people have often paid for their meals by giving a painting so I guess they can't be too choosy. It was perfect.

I was pleasantly surprised at just how nice the rooms where. Although the furnishings where old, it added to the character of the place and the views over the canal where beautiful. I was very glad with my choice to stay here. ... I do feel that Venice in general overly expensive for what you get by comparison to similar accommodation in other cities in Europe. As far as Venice standards go however this is probably one of the better value vs good-quality places you will find. ... Antica Locanda Montin is a simple yet an incredibly charming place. It certainly captures what is unique to Venice: old yet graceful, peaceful and romantic. Breakfast is fairly basic but the coffee is wonderful. It is close to all the central attractions yet in a quite location which you can retreat to at the end of the night. Highly recommended for the traveller who doesn’t want to spend a fortune but still wants to a good place to stay and experience a little Venice charm.

It is in a beautiful but accessible part of Venice. Quiet but interesting. It is a family run hotel with excellent service and a brilliant restaurant. It is distinctive and unusual because of all the contemporary art on the walls. It is not done up for tourists. ... Highly recommend it.

Wonderful people. Great hotel experience at a great price. ... Room overlooking canal a bit smaller than expected, but very nice. Other rooms more spacious. Nice family feel from hotel owners and staff. ... Very nice and efficient. It was like staying in someone's home - not like a hotel. Very good food but not open for cichetti - only dinner at 7:30. Breakfast included. ... The bed posts jutted into the room too much resulting in many ankle bruises. Bring your own soap and shampoo as they are a little stingy with the soap. ... Beautiful restaurant. Nice quiet location in an otherwise tourist-filled Venice.

The Antica Locanda Montin seems to be primarily a restaurant with rooms. While the rooms are spacious and convenient, there is not really a front desk, nor is there always someone on hand during the day as one would expect with a hotel or even a pensione. The management takes care of the basic problem this would create by giving its guests a key to a side door to get in when there is no one there, but this facility would disappoint someone who was expecting a hotel-like environment. ... One of the plusses is the very pleasant terrace restaurant, which offers discounts and special menues to its guests. It is also very good to know that one can arrive by the vaporetto that stops at the Zattere stop; this is much faster than the one that follows the Canale Grande and stops at Ca Rezzonico or the Accademia. ... The rooms are large and the decor is artistic, with many paintings decorating both the room and the public spaces. The Locanda is really a restaurant with rooms upstairs, which means a very relaxed atmosphere without some of the hotel services that clients may want. However, the restaurant has a romantic atmosphere and the traditional menu is very good.

We arrived late and they were closing up. They had left a note in case we arrvied after they'd left, with contact telephone numbers. They were very kind and escorted us to a nearby restaurant that was still open and serving food (by this time it was around 11 pm) ... A quirky little hotel, very charming. We would visit again very happily.

A good value in a part of Venice that is not over run by tourists. Sits on a canal. Two of their rooms have air conditioning, and it was a good price. Food is very good in their garden resturant. Simple breakfeast is offered. Good opportunity to experience a family run operation. The children are often in the facility at the end of the day. Lots of interesting art from previous tennants. We found many nice places to eat nearby. ... The facility is a bit worn, but warm and an excellent example of a family run Italian Locanda. A great price and you will experience real Italy and real Venice versus big run hotels. Nice location and very quite. Sits on a Classic Venitian canal with nice bridges. ... Friendly check out ... Two rooms have air conditioning and dedicated bathrooms. Very good for their hot summers in July/Aug. ... Good example of a family run Venitian Locanda. It was great to see the owners bring their children and family in each day. Got a real taste if Italian life.

I did not comment on the directions to the property, because I did not print them out so did not have them with me! We found the hotel easily enough, however. ... Upon our request, suggested two enotecas for wine shopping nearby and one was an absolute delight. ... They were nice about keeping out suitcases (in an area under the stairs) for all of the afternoon as we were not departing until early evening. Very accommodating. ... This may have been on web site, but the restaurant has a nice garden in the back. We did not eat there, but it looked nice! ... Very basic accommodations, but good value and well-located away from the busier parts of Venice and on a charming small canal. Our room had a balcony that looked out on the canal, and though we had no private bath in the room, that inconvenience (which we were aware of when we booked) was a small one in exchange for the little balcony. Great restaurant nearby: La Bitta. Fabulous food.

I think the fact that it is right on a canal and that you can arrive or leave by boat is good to emphasise. Also, that it is very close to the vaporetta stop and that it is in a less touristy part of Venice but in easy reach of all the key sights. ... the Real Venice

The location within the Academia district is very convenient for walking and accessing the bus ferry.Very quiet and not touristy at nights. Our room was very clean and the bathrooms had been updated. The walls are covered with art from the last 40 years or so. The room furnishings were adequate, though not much in the way of 'antiques'.

All in all the staff and facilities were what one would expect from a hotel of this standard. I appreciated its interesting history very much. Would that I had a bit more money (or they did) to upgrade. Such is life. The hotel is well located and as usual, I loved Venice. Oh yes - the beds were very comfortable. Who could ask for anything more. ... We had to leave the hotel at 4am by water taxi to catch a train. Now, that's another story! ... No - the website is accurate. ... It is a place to stay for an interesting Venetian experience. Expect no luxury and you won't be disappointed.

A lack of street signs, and of course being on foot with luggage meant that finding the hotel was difficult and stressful (at night with children). But once there, all was good. ... We really enjoyed the authentic family atmosphere - everything we expected. Location was wonderful. But a couple of things let us down.... very disappointed with the basic 'american' breakfast - and would have preferred a more Venetian experience given the style of the hotel. Also, satchets of shampoo/shower gel seem cheap and not in the style of the hotel. ... We appreciate Venice is expensive, and that the Australian dollar is weak, but this hotel was the highest we paid for on our European holiday, yet the most basic in facilities for a family of four. Also the restaurant was 5 star (accommodation 3 star) which meant is was too pricey for us to eat there at night. A problem when travelling with kids. Overall, we accepted the conditions and had a wonderful stay. The owner family was helpful, fun and made our stay a special memory. Thank you. ... The restaurant was 5 star (accommodation 3 star) which meant is was too pricey for us to eat there at night - a problem when travelling with kids. ... authentic beautiful Venetician, a real taste of local life, wonderful quiet location, very basic rooms in old style, antique atmosphere, clean and very basic.

The direction on the website were very confusing. As a matter of fact none of the street names indicated existed and therefore we had no idea where we were going. An elderly couple from Vaneice took the time to bring us to the hotel. When we arrived we were shocked to find out that we basically had a room above a restaurant and that it was not at all a hotel. I was extremely disappointed! ... The room was very small and cramped. We were 4 people staying in this small room which was quite upleasant. ... This is not a hotel but rather rooms above a restaurant. There is no hotel reception but rather someone at the restaurtant checking you in. ... I would defintely not recommend this place. It was not a hotel with all the services one would expect to receive. It was very far from the main square and if I returned to Venice I would not stay there again.
