Whilst our room was fine and what we expected our friends had a room next door which was very small with a bathroom that they felt was unacceptably small.
The work on the property ajacent to the Mailbran was an issue early in the morning - the hammering started at 8.00am prompt. Whilst I appreciate this is an on-goping feature in Venice it would have been nice to have had this reflected in the price in some way - whereas I feel we paid at the top end of prices available in March in Venice.
One final point - we were aware of an unpleasant smell in the breakfast area (as we were during our last stay), there seems to be an issue with the drains, and I would want to know that had been rectified before we booked again.

I think there were lots of people in Venice that week paying much less than us.

Generally a friendly hotel, not very posh, but well positioned, and clean - notwithstanding the comments about the noise and the smell in the breakfast area.

Venice is expensive and crowded. Although the hotel was a bit away from the drop off point (Rialto bridge in our case) we didn't have problems finding it. Overall we feel (me and my husband) that the price for the room quality we were offered was too much. The room looked good inside(small though), clean(sometimes strong cleaning deodorants were used that kept smelling for too long) and not noisy overall...the armchest was too small so we had to keep some of our clothing in the luggage...the bathroom had no shelves...TV too small(but I guess if they would have had a bigger one it would have fallen off the table).

Breakfast was included but the cofee (instant) and milk (instant)...was not what we expected...I had to have breakfast at a nearby coffee shop...also at the hotel
restaurant I was looking for real Italian dishes...but instead I ended up eating peas lasagna...a really dissapointment. Travelers be aware...if your are not into Italian food you won't have any other choices but eating Italian in Venice...we looked for a different restaurant in the entire city and could not find one...all the restaurants in the city (and we tried one every evening) have almost the same menu. The staff was amiable and helpful.

we were delighted to find that our room was ready and we were able to check in much earlier than stated.

Remark to 8: Unfortunately there were construction works ongoing directly in front of Hotel Malibran during our stay. I would have expected that Hotel Malibran offers us a discount because of that noise disturbance.

Remark to 12: It was not possible to bill the diner in Restaurant Malibran to our room at Hotel Malibran, because (cit) 'the pizza cannot be billed to the room'. This is not customer friendly.

Nice an typical midd-class hotel, very central to all touristic locations (Rialto, San Marco Place, Canale Grande). Close to shopping streets. Big rooms.
I would recommend to book only the room and to take the breakfast outside in one of the nearby opportunities.

It was very efficient and the manager arranged for a water taxi to take us back to the airport.

We had an early departure (and had warned the hotel), but the young man on the reception desk did not know how to make the credit card machine work - it was his first day on the job.
