A beautiful villa in a wonderful, quiet location. The staff is very helpful and the accomodations are very pleasant. I can't imagine a better place to stay in Venice for the same cost.

We were able to take a water taxi directly to the Hotel which was a big plus due to the amount of luggage we carried.

As far as finding the hotel, we did not have any trouble but that was because we had obtained a detailed map of Venice from the Tourist Information Office. We came by vaperetto so we had to trundle our bags to the hotel. This was fine except when we came to the bridge and had to either lift or 'bump' the wheels up the steps of the bridge up and down it. This still was not a problem. The map published on the web is not detailed enough with streets and street names so it could have been more difficult without our detailed Venice map. You have a reasonable notion but we would have to ask people or 'have a guess' as to where we went. When you have had a wearing car journey as we had, you want to know exactly where you have to go to. Other than that, everything else was terrific. We knew we did not have lifts, however, a porter took our bags up. We were on the top floor and you would have had to be prepared for those stairs - though mature age, we were fairly fit so it didn't propose a problem but could have for some friends of mine.
...
The staff were polite, respectful and helpful. They handled the differing nationalities with ease and gave warm responses. We were told about a Vilvaldi Four Seasons concert closeby in a church and they organised that for us: they were receiving no commission for this service.
...
No problems whatsoever checking out - a good experience.
...
A warm, welcoming hotel: a calm and comfortable'oasis' to return to from the frenetic activity of the streets and waterways of Venice.

Very friendly and helpful. They were great fun and had a good sense of humour. Once again, having stayed there before, it was lovely to get such a good welcome.

Receptionists were absolutely wonderful and even helped me when I was having problems with my camera. Directed me to a good camera shop (having tried to get it working for me first) and other places in Venice.

Everything ran smoothly.
...
Complimentary tea from the samovar in the afernoons and a roaring log fire in winter.
Everything you could possibly want for breakfastfast in the mornings and beautifully presented.
...
Beautiful 17th century villa set in lovely landscaped gardens with sculptures and fountains. Previously the Russian embassy which contains much of the original features. Complimentary afternoon tea from the samovar. Breakfast generous and varied and the staff are absolutely wonderful. Could not stay anywhere else.

We love Hotel Accademia, have stayed there before and will again. It is a delight!
...
It is a lovely, initimate hotel, with an ever attentive staff. The room we stayed in , 'La Fontana'- the 'Fountain' in the garden, is a must. And the location in Dorsoduro is also a must, away from the throngs in San Marco, and closer to the heartbeat of life in Venice. This is the best place ever!!

Staff were extremely helpful and polite at
all times, always maintaining a
professional attitude. My room was attended
to 3 times a day and I've only experienced
this at a 5-star hotel in San Francisco.
And, everything worked! Hairdryer,
refrigerator, safety deposit box, lights.
That is actually quite rare, I've found.

The room was so pleasant and tastefully
furnished that one could take a pause from
beautiful Venice without feeling guilty.
...
If you're looking for a quiet delightful
place to stay in Venice, try the Hotel
Accademia Villa Maravege. I rarely remember
hotels, but this one is hard to forget. I'm
just sorry I wasn't there when I could eat
breakfast in the gardens. Next time.

Wonderful stay. Couldn't be better. Just a small minus for the bathroom. The double corner bathtub was only suitable for sitting upright or showering. Weather being cold and wet, it would have been nice to be able to recline and have a long warm soak.
...
Excellent location near the Accademia bridge and vaporetto. Very quiet. Very helpful and courteous staff. Delicious and plentiful breakfast. Room 60 overlooking the canal is the highest, the only one on its own landing, with perfect privacy - but on the downside, noisy people coming out of the nearby nightclub when it shuts at 4am may wake you up if you are a light sleeper.

We had stayed at the Accademia several times over the years; our arrival on this trip could not have been warmer, or more delightful.
...
We had looked at the web site, but only from curiosity. We made our arrangements directly with the hotel because we had been there before and loved it. It is a very good hotel:uniquely sited with garden and the staff - particularly Massimo, Luciano and the other front desk people are magnificent and have been there for some years.

Sad but fine. Questions re voucher are not relevant...

Too involved to answer: someday I'll look at web site again.

The Academia is, we think the Perfect Place to stay in Venice: Beautiful, friendly and most convenient, good breakfasts and perfectly adequate rooms at a good price.

I apologize for not having responded to your e-mail until now: It got lost in the crowd of messages awaiting our return.

Thanks for the opportunity to rave about this lovely hotel in the lovliest of cities. Kay Voss (and Charles Voss)

Pure heaven!
...
Wonderful. Just far enough away from the noisy city center and close enough to enjoy everything. The room's window shutters that opened out to the back garden were like a fantasy as were the breakfast garden area, and the hotel's situation just off the Grand Canal so that you can watch the boats as you eat. The physical building was lovely ... with a second floor living room just like in the movies! There were little niches with fountains on the property where one could find peace in a gorgeous setting. I have been to Venice 3 times and Europe in general several times and this hotel was the best. It is what Venice should be.

The posting of the train strike was very helpful. Because of that and the extremely helpful and wonderful attitude of the concierge I was able to book on one of the the few trains leaving from Venice to Milan to Como. This person spent a great deal of time checking the train schedules and wrote them down for me. When I went to the train station they told me there were no trains but I again showed them the paper where he wrote the train number and time of departure and they then confirmed the train. I would have been very inconvienced by the strike had it not been for this concierge. I don't have the name of the concierge but it may be on the written note I have if you are unable to identify the right person and praise this person with my extreme gratitude.

My luggage was lost, and I was very tired after 20 hours of travel. The man at the front desk called several times to the airline servicing agent on my behalf. My luggage arrived at 8 p.m. I believe it would not have arrived until the next day if it hadn't been for his efforts.
...
The only thing that bothered me was that the guy at the front desk kept trying to push a 'free' tour to Murano on us and tried to steer us to a restaurant owned by the hotel in the city. I was offended by this. Otherwise, everything was perfect.
...
The front desk called a water taxi for us (essential if you have luggage) and helped us get it on the boat. He was very helpful.
...
If you have luggage, you simply cannot arrive any way but by water taxi. The cost (70 Euro for 2 people to the airport) is well worth the price. You cannot lug your baggage from either the Accademia or the Zattere stops to the hotel; it's too far. It's not a 5-minute walk from Zattere; it's more like 15. I would not advise anyone to take the Alilaguna line; it takes 1-1/2 hours from the airport.
...
Fabulous location; incredible value for the money. The garden alone is worth the visit.

Everyone was very helpful - we loved the accomodations and the charm of Pensione Accademia - there is nothing else we would change - we were totally satisfied -- had trouble finding it - but cannot blame your directions for that as much as our being in a strange area and trying to find our way --
though the courtyard in the back was very charming - the breakfast was great -- I will recommend to others very highly -- of the places wer stayed on our trip to Italy -- it was the accommodation we enjoyed the best.
