We know 'Hotel Mercurio' for some 35 years and come back every year. It is our second home in Venice and we really love the place and the people who run it! ... we shall be back in 2006! ... Always a sad experience sweetened by the hope of coming back ... You might indicat, that 'Hotel Mercurio' is easy to reach from Sabta Lucia, Piazzale Roma or the airport, near to the vapaoretto stop and very close to St. Mark´s.
... A nice, cozy place, good value for your money, which is not necessarily always the case in Venice,in most central location and run by friendly people, who speak several languages.

Monica assisted with one bag of luggage as there were quite a few stairs.
She also provided information on restaurants. ... It went very smoothly.
We walked to Ponte Rialto rather than to the San Marco stop as we were told it would be an express vaporetto from there (#82). Unfortunately we ended up having to take the #52 which we had to wait a while for and it did not stop directly outside of the train station and we had to walk a little bit. We had allowed quite a bit of time so it worked out. ... Construction outside but did not affect our stay and was not noisy ... Hotel Mercurio was in an excellent location very close to Piazza San Marco but easy walk to all locations. It is very close to the varporetto stop but don't have a lot of luggage as you must walk along the narrow cobblestone streets and up and down a few stairs. The staff were very helpful. There are a number of stairs at the hotel. The staff helped us with the luggage. We enjoyed the singing of the condoliers on the bridge right at our hotel.
The room with a double and single was clean, spacious and the bathroom was a good size except for the shower which was quite small but effective.
The breakfast was good but did not include any hot food.
I would definitely recommend this hotel to my friends.

I phoned from the airport to say I would be later arriving than expected. The person who answered the phone was very helpful and friendly. ... The reception staff spoke excellent English and French, but were quite prepared to put up with my dreadful Italian! ... We were able to leave our luggage all day, and to make use of their toilet facilities before we left for the airport in the evening. ... A small, friendly hotel right in the heart of Venice - perfect for sight-seeing. You need to walk a fair distance to find places to eat where food doesn't cost the earth though!

... Daytime and nighttime staff were very helpful and friendly. Continental breakfast offered variety and saved us some money! Great location, walkable distance to everything. Simple, yet comfortable and clean accommodations. Really like having the heater, especially since it was cold! Would recommend highly. Only downside was having to carry our heavy luggage up 2 flights of stairs, but staff let us keep the bags we didn't need near the office on the first floor. That was a great help. ... Walking distance to everything. Clean and comfortable.

... For those that want complete silence they might be disturbed by the passing gondola's - however the novelty didn't wear off for us during our stay! There is a post box in reception. Reception is manned 24hr so there's no need to take key out of the premises. The hair dryer supplied is very slow and cuts out after a while, if you've got long hair like me, bring your own. ... Really lovely hotel! Great location - not far from St Mark's Square! Good value for money (compared to others viewed)!! We had a little balcony with our room that overlooked one of Venice's many canals, so had fun watching the gondola's pass by - some with singers which added to the Venetian atmosphere! Really friendly staff and great breakfast selection! We would gladly stay at Hotel Mercurio should we visit Venice again.

Somewhat difficult to find. Make sure you have explicit directions from the water taxi stops. However, a very quaint hotel in a great location near everything.

The directions told what stop to get off at but didn't go much further. I found it on a good map based on the address. ... We had a room that looked directly over the a canal that seemed to be a popular place for gondoliers. Lots of singing, accordions and atmosphere.
The location is great since it is near San Marco Piazzza and an easy walk to the Vaporetto Stop. ... The location was great and the room was very comfortable. There isn't much public area within the hotel but it is adequate. The breakfast was good.

When I arrived, the staff were very friendly and helpful. I asked if I could have an extra bed for my last night as a friend of mine was meeting me in Venice. They gave me a twin room for all 3 nights and only charged me 20 euros extra for my friend. ... My room was a bit more cramped and outdated than I expected. However, I was not disappointed. I think I just received one of the older rooms. It was clean, comfortable and had 'character'! ... It is a quaint, quirky hotel, with excellent staff. My room was comfortable. The breakfast was very good and the cappucinno was the best I had on my trip!

Monica, at the desk, was always pleasant and helpful. ... We enjoyed our stay at Hotel Mercurio. The location was great with easy access to points of interest. The breakfast each morning was enough to get us going and the coffee was very good. ... Better directions to the hotel with names of streets available. ... This is a good small hotel within easy walking distance to most points of interest or access to the public boat system. They were very accommodating and helpful to our family of five. The breakfast each morning was enough to get us going. We would stay there again.

Hotel was close to transport links, reasonably easy to find, reception staff were very helpful. Reception area was clean and tidy. ... Room was quite small, but it was clean and tidy and all facilities were as stated. Air-conditioning was excellent - and much needed!Staff were very helpful and friendly and spoke good English. My only slight complaint would be that our bathroom was only a shower room, there was no bath. However this wasn't a real problem. ... Hassle-free - just as it should be. ... It was a pleasant small hotel with friendly staff. Rooms weren't anything special but they were clean and tidy and adequately appointed. Very convenient location yet not too busy or crowded in the immediate area. Good value for money for Venice in August (when we stayed). I would recommend it to you.

I arrival experience at the hotel was very good. The receptionist assisted us very well. Our trip to get to the hotel was not as good. After arriving at our drop of location from the water taxi, we tried to locate the hotel. The map we had from the web site was not very specific. We purchased a local map of Venice from a local retailer. After opening the map, we realized it did not detail all the street names either. We asked the clerk at the store for directions, but he couldn't help us. We tried searching for the hotel a little more with no luck. We asked a local gondola operator for assistance. He said he couldn't help us either. We were not impressed by the local assistance. Eventually we found the hotel on our own. ... The website stated some rooms did not have a canal view, which ours did not. However the view we did have out are window was of construction scaffolding. Not much to look at. The room was clean and acceptable. ... Considering our arrival probelms getting to the hotel, the lack of a view out the hotel window, little help from the local people outside the hotel and some rain, I was disappointed. I tought our Venice experiance would have been much better. ... Let customers know if they have a view of a canal or not what they may see. Also inform them if any construction is going on on their building.

we had too look the street up in a map, but we found it ... The room was extremely small, the bathroom was even smaller, we did not have warm water in the first evening and morning and did not get anything for that. The price for the hotel was much too high in my opinion, but I think in Venice they get what they want from stupid tourists ... no problem, we could leave our luggage there for some time ... tiny rooms, loud, when other guests are there. ... good lokated, too small rooms, breakfast was ok, service not too friendly

I picked the hotel at random from the internet and I couldn't have chosen a more perfect place. The location was very good as it wasn't too far from the airport boat station and very handy to walk around to all the big tourist sites. The room was very clean with a modern bathroom. The furniture was very nice but the best feature was the view of the canal during the evening time when the gondolas are passing outside and you can hear the music and singing. The staff were polite and the breakfast room was cosy. I booked this trip as a 25th wedding anniversary surprise for my husband and we both really enjoyed our stay in Venice. I would stay at the Mercurio again and would recommend it to anyone.

The quality of the rooms were clean, spacious, quiet, and private....however, our shower would not drain the water, so it would overflow onto the bathroom floor. And the shower seemed to have mold/scum on the trimmings. A thorough scrubbing inside and out needs to be addressed. But other than that, we would still go back!:) ... A nice, cozy hotel. For what we paid, it was quite the deal. In the heart of all the action and yet, far enough for some quiet. It was air conditioned and we liked that we were able to get extra pillows. The only negative was that our shower. Thanks so much for a great four nights!
