We arrived by vaporato (water-bus) from the airport, and were wished welcome by a nice reception clerk who informated us about the hotelservices and a short orientation about Venice.

We lived in a Junior Suite that was very nice. Our chambermaid was very nice, smily and serviceminded. She really deserved our tips to her.

The Metropole Hotel was very charming and the staff was proffesional and friendly.
The collection of old furitures and other accessoires was very special and interesting.

We asked for a water taxi to be taken to the airport and within a few minutes one was waiting for us.

We would strongly recommend the Hotel Metropole to anyone. We found the staff to be most welcoming and helpful.
We were very fortunate in that we booked a side or back room and we were given a wonderful front, corner room with a fantastic view over the lagoon. It was pure magic.
The breakfast room is lovely and there is plenty to eat and you are not hurried at all.
It is a pure Vnetian hotel with wonderful glass chandeliers and beautiful antique furniture.
We were most thrilled that it is right next door to Vivaldi's church. What more could anyone ask for when visiting beautiful Venice.
From now on, we will only stay at the Hotel Metropole when we visit Venice.

We were very comfortably accommodated, an a room largely than I expected. The staff were delightful, and the premises memorably Venetian. The whole Metroplole experience substantially enhanced our enjoyment of Venice.

Again, excellent. It was no trouble to store our luggage well beyond check-out time and to help us book and board a water taxi later in the day. Most efficient.

I can't remember whether it was clear that the Metropole has such a prominent position, right on the promenade. Very close to San Marco, yet far enough away for peace and quiet. The outlook from the front is great, and there is a private water taxi stage for the side door.

You could do no better than to stay in the Metropole for a taste of real Venetian hospitality, decor, style and comfort.

As our group of 8 were arriving at 11.30 p.m after a long trip from Oslo, we asked the hotel to arrange pick up from the airport with private water taxi. This was done extremely efficiently and although expensive, was worth every euro to be able to glide effortlessly into the water entrance of the hotel in style!! Another big plus was that the barman opened the bar again to serve us some drinks after arrival.

Our group og 8 people (4 doubles) was allocated 2 garden rooms and 2 side canal rooms which was a good idea as it was easier for us to choose who would have what. The only complaint was that there was a compressor in the back garden which was on all night and somewhat disturbed the rooms on that side.

They were in a great hurry to check us out and get our rooms ready for the next guests even though it was only 8.30.a.m. This meant the suitcases were taken from our room while we were still eating breakfast. When we returned to the room it was open and the bed was already being made which gave us a bit of a shock. This also unfortunately led to several papers (including the flight e-ticket!)and magazines, which had purposely been left on the table, being thrown away by the maid. As these were already in the rubbish they were unrecoverable. The reception staff on this occasion were NOT very helpful.

A hotel with not only the perfect location, but also the perfect ambience for a few days in Venice. The back garden was an idyllic place to relax away from the hustle and bustle out front (though there might be a lot of mosquitos there in summer!)The beds and pillows were very comfortable and there was a lovely fragrance all through the hotel.

A beautifully decorated hotel in an excellent location. Great value for money. Ask for the family room if you are traveling with your family. The room is really great value for money. It is cheaper than having 2 rooms and the room is spacious, beautifully decorated and very private. It has 4 beds,a dining table and sofa.

The room was extremely small (but nicely furnished). I paid extra for a view over the lagoon, but it was incredibly noisy in the evening/night. There are benches directly outside the hotel for passers-by to sit on - and they do, way past midnight. I could follow entire conversations from my bed. If you can't stand the noise, then you have to close the window and either suffocate or put up with the air- conditioning.

The fact that the Hotel has its own landing stage is a great benefit. However, this means that guests should use a private Water Taxi - the crowds at the airport landing / departure point for water taxis and the vaporetto leads to chaotic situations.

The personnel at the Hotel Metropole were exemplary; their humor and welcoming attitude made our stay so much more enjoyable.
The Hotel Metropole is a wonderful spot; adjacent to St. Mark's Square and fronting the Grand Canal. Whenever we venture back to Venice, the Metropole will be our accomodations.

It was wonderful to arrive by water taxi right at the Hotel's canal entrance and not have to struggle through the streets of Venice with luggage.

Our rooms had lovely Lagoon views just as we requested. Breakfast was wonderful and the courtyard garden was great for relaxing in after a good day of sightseeing, walking and shopping in Venice.

Everything about the Hotel is absolutely lovely. The staff are all exceptionally friendly and welcomming. One relaxes immediately in the delightful surroundings. It was our second visit to the Hotel Metropole, and we hope to return again to enjoy the experience.

Everywhere you look there is something to delight the eye. Make sure you peek into the telephone box at the bottom of the stairs!

After a long walk around the wonderful city of Venice it is fabulous to be able to relax in the delightful lounge with a glass of Prosecco, reflect on your day, and look forward to a dining experience in the Hotel restaurant. The puddings are to die for!

Really wonderful to arrive by water taxi, my guests who had never before been to Venice really loved that. Wonderful to be on the lagoon front and near San Marco, I could let the teenagers out to roam and know they could find their way back again--a comfort for me and a great adventure for them!

Great staff, really friendly, great location, wonderful public rooms, good restaurant. I would definitely recommend it to my friends. We had a memorable and special celebration in the restaurant and the entire weekend is something we will all long remember.

Whenever we met staff in the hotel they always paused what they were doing to say hello and make way for us. We used the hotel's free water taxi service to Murano which was very convenient. The downside was the return trip - we were not taken back to our hotel, but to a spot on the opposite side of Venice, quite a distance from both the hotel and San Marco Square.

Very elegant and luxurious. We were thrilled with our room and the fabulous view of the lagoon. The bathroom was large and modern and had a great shower. We would recommend the hotel to anyone and would stay there again.

We enjoyed the hotel very much... it's lovely. The private water taxi takes you directly to the front step, the only way to go in Venice. Well worth the extra cost. Location is perfect, right on the canal.

The hotel is in a great location, the staff is very pleasant,the room was surprisingly large (we had a quad,2 nice queen beds)and the bathroom was modern. My only suggestion is to update the furnishings in the room (very old and sparse.) My husband and I had stayed at this hotel 20 years ago and I don't think the furniture has been updated since. The breakfast spread was great!

Staff were polite and efficient but not friendly. After a stay at the Hermitage Hotel in Florence, where staff couldn't have been nicer, we cou;dn't help but notice the change in attitude.

The room we were given was amazing as was the bathroom. Even better were all of the extras...the plush bath sheets, bath salts, slippers and bathrobe.
The hotel restaurant was closed something we were not aware of until arrival.

Although not a bargain, a stay at the Hotel Metropole is a wonderful experience. The hotel itself has an exotic feel to it and the rooms are extravagant with marble baths, candelabra, and gorgeous beds. The hotel restaurant was highly recommended by the concierge.
Re dinner:
We found the food only adequate and expensive. The service was very very slow. One waiter and one assistant worked the whole restaurant (2 rooms). We waited one half hour for a second glass of wine. The waiter was obviously overworked/tired.
The breakfast was lovely . Great service too.

we had stayed at the metropole for our 25th anniversary. This visit was to celebrate our 50th anniversary. We advised the hotel. We didn't expect any special recognition. But a note from the manager would have been nice.
We went on a cruise after our stay and the captain acknowledged our anniversary.

It would have been bery helpful to receive directions from the airport to the hotel. It was extremely confusing as to how to get to the water taxis and which taxi to take, which stop to get off at etc. We ended up having to haul our luggage (with children) 6 blocks over bridges to the hotel. That was after 24 hours of travel from Canada.

Mostly what I expected. Although noisier than I expected due to the boat dock, with the shutters, it was not a problem for sleeping. Not as opulent as I thought it looked on the website.

There was some confusion at checkout. I thought when we left our bags with the concierge in the morning we were checked out, but when we picked them up later, the staff expressed concern that we hadn't checked out properly. We are used to the 'express' checkout offered in many large hotels, and thought our credit card was on file.

I was a bit disappointed with the front desk staff. They always seemed a little annoyed having to stop to talk to me or explain something to me. Also, I had e-mailed to ask them to make a reservation for the Secret Itineraries tour and they had e-mailed back that we had a reservation. However, when we got there they didn't seem to know what time the reservation was and when we went there it turned out we didn't have one.
