Very friendly and would like to revisit next time in Venice ... I will be writing to the hotel expressing our thanks for their kindness, helpfulness and friendship during our stay. All of the staff (not just reception) were nice and talkable to. Thank you for the lead to them. ... Smoth and easy, everything there and available. ... Would not be suitable for wheelchair or physically disabled people, bur this really aplies to the whole of Venice and maybe should be stated in any liturature. ... Excelent, well worth the visit, Quiet but within easy walking distance of all places.

I sent an e-mail two days before we arrived requesting information about transfers from Marco Polo Airport and within a couple of hours was provided with all the information we needed. I replied requesting a private water taxi to meet us at the airport (at about 2130 hrs) and this was arranged by the hotel staff. A water taxi met us at the dockside and the driver took us right to the door (including a 400m walk) where we were met outside by the receptionist. Excellent. ... The hotel and room exceeded our expectations. The hotel was perfect for a romantic break, in a nice location within easy reach of St.Marks either by vaporetta or even on foot. The rooms were spotlessly clean, airy, and well decorated and the hotel itself full of character and charm. On top of this the staff were extremely obliging, nothing being too much trouble and also speaking fluent English.(Our Italian could be better) ... We checked out at noon, but our flight did not leave until 2130. No problem! Our luggage was looked after by the staff (at no extra expense) until our departure from Venice. Again a taxi was requested (this time a cab taxi) which was arranged within two minutes, and turned up bang on time. ... Transfers can be arranged. Friendly staff. Money changing at reception. General information available at reception. ... Both myself and my wife were extremely impressed with our stay at the Pausania and would recommend this hotel to anyone, in fact my mother is planning a stay next year on our recommendation. We have stayed in hotels all over the world and the Pausania certainly lived up to expectations.

It was easy because this was our third stay at Hotel Pausania. ... It was very good to see that the rooms had been modernized since our last stay. The only problem was that the height-adjustment knob on our shower was broken so that the shower head was at the lowest position. ... Quiet; excellent location; nice garden; clean, newly painted rooms.

I've stayed there before, so knew the way ... Not sure I read the website, since I knew what to expect ... I think 250 Europs per night is too much for a 3-star hotel, even in Venice. ... A pleasant hotel in an old (C14?) building in a quiet part of Venice. Everything is fine, incluidng the breakfast room with a garden view, but I felt the hotel was overpriced - it had doubled in the four years since we were last there, because of refurbishment. This seemed to consist of pseudo roccoco plasterwork on the walls and ceiling of our room.

It was a pleasure to walk back into the quiet calm area where the hotel was situated after spending the day in the more tourist areas of Venice. ... Hotel Pausania is in a perfect location if you like peace & quiet. The hotle is very quaint although it could be improved by some updating and maintenance. ... Typically Venetian - the entrance to the hotel is very different with a font, courtyard, and ancient stone steps leading to the first floor. It has lost none of it's original charm. Centrally located and very close to a vaporetto stop.

The poor comment around the quality of the room was that it was noisy, you could hear people flushing the toilet, having a shower and going up and down the stairs outside. The room had very little natural daylight as well. Location wise, it was great though. ... Good location, be careful about which room you are placed in.

I knew the hotel already and had spent 3 days last year on it.
The room this year was not as spacious and the air conditioner was not working properly.
Breakfast service was excellent. Desk attendants were too (fake) polite [the man in the afternoon] or curt, unfriendly [the woman in the morning]. ... Offer to visit glass blowing demonstration was a set up for hotel guests to by Murano glass at exhorbitant prices. In fact, some of the prices quoted on the Island were three times the cost on Venice stores. We did not appreciate this at all. ... Good.

We were told that on the first night our accommodation was being upgraded to an Apartment a little way from the hotel. It wasn't that good, noisy, uncomfortable bed and hard pillows; we were moved to the hotel the next day. ... We have stayed there twice before in 2000 and 2002 and will not be staying there again; it has gone downhill, unfortunately. ... I think if one requests a specific room well in advance, you should be given that accommodation. If people are put into the Apartment near to the hotel it should be much better rather than saying it has more space with the rest being sub-standard. ... I wouldn't recommend it.

The website said that the rooms were air-conditioned, and that all rooms that did not have a canal view would have a 'beautiful garden view.' However, even though the temperature in Venice was around 30 degrees C, we were told that the air-conditioning had not yet been turned on this year (we arrived on 29 May). This prompted us to begin a search for another hotel, as the room was stifling. Luckily, the air conditioning came on the next day, perhaps because of my complaint about it (I should note that I had as pleasant a 'complaint experience' as one could hope: I think I was polite and reasonable, and the clerk at the reception was the same). As for our view, one could glimpse the garden if one leaned far out of the window and twisted one's neck; without such effort, all that was visible from our room was the corrugated metal roof of a shed. ... See above. Something I read on the net described the rooms as 'spacious' (though I'm not sure it was on your site): this was certainly not the case in ours, which was just enough for the bed (there was no room for a chair, so there wasn't one, and we had to be creative about where to store our suitcases). However, the public areas of the hotel--especially the large hall through which one passed after climbing the stairs--were strikingly beautiful; it is/was quite justified for your site to claim that one feels one is entering a palace. ... We traveled for 45 days around Europe, and though only one of our 15 hotel rooms was more expensive than the Hotel Pausania, at least half were nicer. However, I suspect that the hotel is not a bad value for Venice, where accommodations are all over-priced. ... Set on a lovely canal in a great location in the Dorsoduro (quiet, but not at all far from the activity and facilities of the Campo Santa Margherita); public areas that evoke the feel of an old palace; very small rooms (at least ours was) and a very challenging staircase to ascend and descend if your room isn't on the ground floor; a spare Continental breakfast; if you care about air-conditioning, don't assume that, just because the hotel has it, you'll actually get it; a nice staff, ranging from just plain polite to very polite.

When we rang the hotel we were told that there was a bus and water taxi strike so the hotel arranged a taxi for us and the driver walked with us to the hotel. This was welcome as we arrived very late and finding our way would have been difficult. As it was ryanair had arranged buses from Treviso airport to the bus station - so there was an alternative - but it would have been a late arrival and stressful alternative. ... Everything was very good. The only minor detail was that the upper rooms were up a fairly steep staircase and this combined with the romanesque outer stair meant a stiff climb to our rooms. We were fine and the brouchure does explain about the romanesque stairs. It was extremely picturesque and quiet but en route to most of the sites. For anyone with a sense of history that likes comfort too - I would certainly recommend it. ... As above - steep stairs.
... I would recommend it.

Extremely easy. The water taxi was waiting for us at Venice train station, took us directly to the hotel and carried our bags to the hotel. Staff carried our bags up the stairs to the room. Exceedingly helpful and courteous. ... Just a great staff. Excellent English, helped us get around to many places in Venice, told us about fine restaurants and things to see and do. ... No problems, they allowed us to leave our bags by the desk so we could visit the Guggenheim museum before our train to Florence in the afternoon. Very gracious of them. ... The only negative was the significant number of mosquitoes in our room when we left the windows open. Also, there are bug blood stains on the walls and ceiling which really should be painted over. Other than that, the place was great! ... As an excellent hotel on a quiet street close to everything to see and do in Venice. Great staff for non-Italian speaking visitors. Mosquitos in the room were a pain in the neck - yet I understand that this is a difficult problem to handle with effectively. ... The strong point is the absolute silence at night.
