We had lost our map and ended up wandering around Venice late at night. With a couple of phone calls the receptionist directed us to where we needed to be and came to meet us, even carrying our bags. I'm not sure whether we'd have been able to find the place even with the map but the receptionist went out of his way to get us to Al Portico.

The receptionist was exceptionally helpful during our stay. He came to meet us when we got lost and enabled us to organise our check out the night prior to departure - as we were leaving very early in the morning. The guesthouse itself is in a great location, extremely convenient for the vaporetto and within easy walking distance of Rialto, St. Mark's and other must-sees. It's very well maintained, clean and has lots of character. There's plenty of assistance available if you need it but it's also very private. I wouldn't hesitate recommeding it to someone else.

We checked out the night before departure which explains why the answer to question 11 is no. Despite not having a credit card machine available, the receptionist improvised and we got sorted, with a few giggles along the way.

The area is colourful and lively - a bustling market, lots of lovely little side streets and the presence of locals make it a great experience. The Guest House is located just off the main thoroughfare so it is still quiet but there's plenty of Venetian life unfolding just footsteps away.

Pleasant accomodation, very good value for money, helpful staff. Quiet, but quite centrally located.
