The receptionist provided clear and valuable advice on how we could get from the airport to the hotel by taxi etc.

We have travelled to many paerts of the world staying in some of the very best hotels like the Grand Hyatte Bali. The Sant'Elena offers simplistic quality of a high standard. We were delighted with our stay.

The fact that the hotel does not have facities for an evening meal or snack is the only negative.
The excellent tasteful decoration should be mentioned, and the

I was surprised no one mentioned that the hotel is next to a lovely waterside and tree lined park where the locals stroll and play. It was always a welcome sight when the tress appeared marking our vaporetto stop.

Hotel Sant'Elena is a clean-lined and accomodating hotel off the beaten path. There are a few restaurants close by and if you're lucky a soccer game may be watched at the stadium just behind the hotel. It is not in the heart of tourist central so if you hate riding the boats, this is a down side. If you hate tourists, this is an upside.

Overall I found the hotel and staff excellent. The only criticsm was that they were unable to open the bar one evening because the night porter had mislaid the keys.
Also do not be put off by the hotels location. The water bus runs every 10 minutes until midnight and every 20 throughout the night. Piazza San Marco is only 10 minutes in the taxi and you will save a fortune by staying just outside the city limits
...
It appears to be a very new hotel, which was not the indication given obn the website. However this is positive as everything is clean and new. A direction sign at the water bus stop would be helpful

Modern, clean and friendly. Good service and very good value for money for Venice

It was quite hard to find the hotel. The map on the web site was not so good!
...
It was in a very calm area in a part of Venice you not often get acquainted with!
...
To prefer before the more messy parts in the centre of the city!

The location is one of the hotels best points - away from the tourist rabble, but only 10 mins (3 stops) by vaporetto to San Marco; overlooking a canal and a large public park; it all feels quiet and local.

The Hotel was axcellent though I thought the Hot breakfast was poor. No Fried Eggs and the Bacon was just warmed up Ham. Otherwise would have been the perfect stay !

The hotel was by personal recommendation.... your service kicked in after I had called the hotel by phone.
...
I had no need of it and infact was not really aware of it.

Arrival by water taxi does not get you to the door and our first arrival was not a drop off at the nearest point by any means. So a local street map with canals would be good.
...
The only mild dissapointment was the poor quality staff in the breakfast room. They made no attempt to communicate with guests, service had to be searched for. Getting coffee etc. was an effort rather than an offer.

Otherwise all other staff and facilities were excellent. I will be returning later in the year.
...
The reception staff were helpfull and polite at all times. Someone who seemed like the manager and a little older was very charming indeed.
...
Tell people it's 'The' ideal location for visits to the Biennale art festival this year as it is so near.
...
But I usually go by personal recommendation first.
...
A contemporary and efficient oasis away from the crowds... not fussy and 'old world' like most Venice hotels.
Great for the Biennale.
Easy to get to by public transport or water taxi. A quiet part of town... and you'll be glad of it after a day with the crowds.

A good find, good value.

Arrival was very late, almost midnight Venice time, therefore, arrival was by water taxi, being dropped off at the rear of the hotel in a 'water alley', (did not use directions on website). We had notified the hotel of our late arrival and our reservations were held for us. The only problem was they did not tell us the doors would be locked and we would have to ring the bell for service. At midnight in a strange country with your hotel's doors locked it was rather disconcerting.
...
I do not remember the information on the website well enough to answer question number 7.
...
We were in the train station trying to reconfirm the next hotel reservation and let them know were arriving later than expected and could not find anyone to help us with the phone numbers (the printed reservation for next hotel was incorrect). We finally called the Hotel Sant'Elena and the clerk quickly looked it up for us on the internet and gave us the correct number. He was very gracious and we were able to quickly confirm our next destination and relieve our worries.
...
If you take a water taxi from the train station to the Hotel Sant'Elena, you get a great tour of Venice just on your route to the hotel.
...
Our room was very large and comfortable. We enjoyed our stay very much.

Before booking we requested a no-smoking room which had not had pets staying in it as I am asthmatic.
However, when we arrived we were shown to a room with an ashtry in it - ie a smoking room.
