Founded between the V and the VI centuries
Torcello became a flourishing colony, but with the coming of Venice
the island had a slow decline.
Today in Torcello there are only 60
inhabitants and as testimony of the ancient magnificence remain
the Byzantine cathedral and the church of S. Fosca.
