The Lido is a thin strip of sand which
constitutes a natural barrier between Venice and the open sea, and
is both the residential suburb and the unique beach of the city.
This is the unique Island to have streets
practicable by car and is connected to Venice by a Steamer Service.
For the Lido the high season goes from
June to September, July and August are the most crowded months.
Every year at the end of summer lovers of cinema come to the Lido
to partecipate to the International Venice Film Festival. (for
more info about the Festival, look at Art & Culture)
This is also the summer
centre of the Casino' which during winter from October to March
is housed in Palazzo Vendramin-Calergi in the Canal Grande.
