I don't remember getting any directions beforehand so had to figure that out for myself. However the reception I received at the hotel and the help with luggage etc was superb!
...
I have actually already written to the hotel to say how good I found the whole experience!
...
It was expensive but as I said before, the service, accommodation, breakfast were superb
...
The location is VERY central and accessible

Expensive but excellent!

This is the second time I have stayed at this property and cannot speak highly enough of the friendly service my young son and I received. The receptionist Thomaso even remenbered me from my previous visit with my daughter last year. I will stay at this property again and will recommend it.

the decor and the ambiance were very nice and as expected from the web site. The room was a little smaller than expected, but fine and with both an excellent view and a spacious bathroom. The desk staff was exceedingly pleasant and very helpful with restaurant recommendations and reservations.
...
I would only add a sentence to the 'where we are' section something as follows: From the San Zaccaria water bus stop, look for the small passageway to the right of the Savoia e Jolanda. The Villa is 50 meters through the passageway.
...
I would highly recommend the Villa Igea to someone who wanted this price point and wanted to be near San Marcos.

As a first-time visitor to Venice, being on my own, and never before having had experience of catching water buses and taxis I found this experience a bit daunting. The directions and instructions were very clear, but perhaps you could suggest that for a first-time visitor a water taxi is the better option. I did take a taxi and so found the hotel with ease. The taxi driver explained exactly how to get to the hotel and I had no problem. I am not sure that this would have been the case had I caught a bus.
...
It was only as was checking out that I heard some-one at the reception desk tell some-one who had just arrived that there was a 20% discount on meals at the hotel where one had breakfast. Had I known this in advance I would definitely have had my some of meals there - but nobody told me this.
...
I asked about taking the shuttle to the airport and was told 'you can catch it down there'. I wasn't sure where 'down there' was and had to go and do some personal investigation. It would be nice if a member of the hotel staff could perhaps accompany one to the stop where one catches the shuttle - especially if one is on one's own. It is not far from the hotel at all, but it is these little niceties that make a top hotel

We were very happy with our stay but we didnt get our room clean during our stay.
Normally at mid day the hotel rooms are clean, this was not the case.
The maid knock the door in the late afternoon hours for that porpouse , we were there when she wanted to get in, butleft the room quick. She never showed up again.
I understand that is a small hotel and that the maids may have the priority to clean Savoja-Holanda hotel rooms , but Villa Igea is not an unexpensive hotel and the room had to be clean in the morning hours or early afternoon.
Besides that we were happy, well located and the front desk was polite and allways there.
Regards from Costa Rica !

The hotel manager met us and greated us with warm and enthusiastic pleasure. He was ready to see to our every needs.
...
The rooms and terraces were splendid! Everything was more than we had expected. This hotel is a few steps away from the action, but so quiet we had our best rest here. The staff gave us directions, suggestions, and clear answers to our questions. I can't wait to go back to Venice and will most certainly stay at Hotel Igea! The breakfasts were fabulous and you have the ammenities of their sister four-star hotel just around the corner.
...
The staff arranged for our water taxi to the airport, took care of our bags, and everything went like clockwork. Such a pleasure!
...
A wonderful way to begin your introduction into the romance of Venice is to stay at Hotel Igea. This hotel facing small quiet piazza is superbly maintained, professionally staffed, and restfully quiet. The location is fabulous as you are only moments from the hustle and bustle of San Marco Square.

We arrived in Venice late at night and it was somewhat confusing figuring out whether to take a bus, taxi, water taxi, water bus, etc. We ended up taking the private water bus to St. Marc's. From there we knew to walk toward San Zaccaria but we did get a little lost finding the side street for the hotel. The directions to the hotel could be a bit more helpful.
...
We loved our stay at Villa Igea! The hotel has a perfect location--just around the corner from St. Marc's Square. The staff were all very helpful and friendly. The rooms were immaculate and comfortable. The breakfast room was nice and the breakfast itself was good with a varied selection fruits, cereals, cheese, cold cuts, and eggs. We liked the added touch of a warm croissant for each guest along with tea and coffee. Thanks for a great stay in Venice!

The room was lovely . My only disappointment
was that the lift smelt awful
...
Lovely room (small but not cramped), excellent
position near St Marco and also right beside
the Vaporetto stop, so NO lugging suitcases
over cobblestones and up and down bridges

We had stayed at VI previously when it was simply an annexe of the Savoia e Jolanda and chose it again for its location. The upgrade of the rooms since our last stay in 2002 was significant and the room we were allocated (in the loft on L 5 or 6) was very pleasant, if a little quaint, with its rooftop deck and we enjoyed it very much. The room was well equipped and very comfortable, the reception staff most obliging and the breakfast arrangement with Savoia e Jolanda worked well, although we understand that the VI is shortly to open its own breakfast room. We would return to VI when in Venice again and have recommended it to friends in the past. While not in the luxury class by any means, its location, compact size, comfort and competitive pricing in an expensive city make the VI an attractive alternative to properties near the station, remote from the San Marco area and the cramped Rialto area.
...
Only the obvious point that its location just off the Riva degli Schiavoni is not only in one of the most desirable areas, especially for short-stay guests, but also allows them alternative access routes to all parts of the city and the chance to avoid some of the crowds.
...
As a small, clean, comfortable and competitively priced hotel in an excellent location for transport, shopping, food and most major tourist sites. Its frontage to San Zaccaria also provides relative quiet and affords alternative access to the San Marco and Castello areas without the need to join the crush of people on the lagoon walkway. While the tariff is not exactly cheap, a slightly higher standard of accommodation in the same area would be far more expensive and the VI appears the best value property in its vicinity.

There was a problem with our reservation on arrival. They showed us cancelled. Indeed, we had cancelled the original reservation at a higher rate and rebooked at a lower rate (we did have copies of all of our internet transactions with us). The hotel acknowledged that they had made a mistake and gave us their 'apartment' suite for one night and the room category we had booked for the rest of our stay.
...
Their breakfast (included) was excellent. Guests from the Igea breakfast at their adjacent four star hotel with a view of the Grand Canal. A great plus! We were also extended a 25% discount from our total dinner bill when we dined at the restaurant on the sister property.
...
Excellent location. Very convenient to the Grand Canal, transportation (water buses, taxis and gondolas) and St. Marco Square. We were not aware of the 25% dining discount until the matre d' told us...we might have dined there more often if we had known since the food, service and location of the restaurant were excellent.

A great location so close to the major
attractions and transport routes yet
completely away from the hustle and bustle.
...
Took 20 minutes to retrieve our bags from
storage, and we were relying on catching an
hourly water bus. We had allowed for this
though and caught our bus. This minor point
was the only thing we would fault.
...
The fact that you take breakfast in the main
Savoia Hotel and therefore can eat it on the
terrace overlooking the water and San
Georgio.
Two small quite private seating terraces
looking out on the square and church.
...
I would include the points made above.

Very pleased the hotel but the only oint wghich we would make is concerning the fact that breakfast was not served in the same building as the hotel and therefore you had to walk outside and down the street each morining.

At first he said he did not have reservations for the 2 (two) rooms I had requested-only for on1 room. He did manage to find another room for us, avoiding a major potential problem. There was confusion about the room number when I first made the reservations-you need to address that somehow when reservations for more than one room is made.

Our stay at Villa Igea was fine. However, the hotel should think about installing mosquito screens in the windows. We were too warm in the middle of the night, but opening the windows was not an option because of the mosquitos.
...
Villa Igea is great, especially in terms of the location -- close to public transportation and walking distance from San Marcos Square. The staff is very nice and the fact that it is affiliated with the larger hotel around the corner is a major plus (i.e., concierge service after Villa Igea's front desk is closed). However, be prepared for small rooms that often gets very warm. Unlike most American hotels, the windows do not have mosquito screens.
