No air conditioning available during April, (was told this is by law) the temperatures were above average, 22, 20 & 24 degrees celsius and it would have been nice to have a cool room
If I had to find something it would be that there is no tea/coffee making facilities in the room. ... The whole experience was first class. The staff are friendly, welcoming and accomodating. The room was first class and better than we expected. I cannot praise this hotel highly enough, other than to say we have already booked to go back in November 2007 with the same room.

very spacious for a venice city hotel. excellent clean rooms with balcony at the canal where we could here the gondoleers singing early mornings. expensive for a three star, but it was venice! Breakfast typical continental but as much as you like. Literally 2 minutes from St Marcs square, so location was excellent. Would stay there again.

A small map would of been ideal. However we headed in the general direction, from St Marks and within 10 minutes of exiting the Vaparetto we were in our hotel room. ... Generally a great hotel and polite and friendly staff. However the 1 member of staff who would serve us in the breakfast room in the morning was totally miserable, no smile for the whole stay, no interaction or banter with the guests at all. A smile goes a long way!!! ... Charming, character Hotel in a central location. Double room was small however on reading other customers comments regarding this before we travelled, meant we werent dissapointed. Our room was small but beautifully decorated and clean. We also had a verandah which faced into an internal courtyard - this was a bonus. The breakfast room faced out onto a small waterway where there was a Gondola station, great photo opportunity. Would recommend.

We had an early check out, the night porter took a long time to procces the phone account and credit card machine, we missed our water taxi and then the train. ... No everthing was very good ... We would recomend it to alll our freinds, very good location, easy to find and good clean accomodation. Great place!

good overview, actualized adresses, fotos ... easy to do, prompt reaction ... the bath room were smaller than expected ... bath room is small and the toilet/shower for handicaped people but the room isn't. For not handicaped people not the best solution. ... very romantic (with singing gondolieres under the window !)and good placed for nice tripps through Venice.

The TV-set did notr work at first, but was fixed when we asked for it ... As a perfect place for staying in Venice, if you can afford it.

They need a bellman due to all the steps involved in getting to a room, particularly the one we had on the third floor(stairs again after getting off the lift). The towel rack in the bathroom was very high and difficult for a 5 foot woman to reach. Otherwise it was a delightful hotel experience. thanks Gilbert & Carole Weiner ... It was great to find a no smoking property in Europe! ... They had a very nice breakfast and comfortable breakfast room right on the main floor of the hotel. ... A very good choice for Venice which is an expensive and difficult place to stay.

The little square at the front of the hotel was better than we expected and it gave good sense of space. Nice shops next door too! ... Could include one photo of the square at the front and of the church next door ... Very good location, very helpful and polite staff, nice comfortable rooms, nice interior details and furniture. Quiet and romantic

I would recommend it highly as very well situated, with comfortable accomodation and good breakfasts. The brochures in the reception office caused us to go to a jazz concert that we would not have attended otherwise and we enjoyed that very much as well.

wonderful hotel. THe staff was extremely helpful. THe price was a bit steep, but the location was marvelous. We had a wonderful time.
The continental breakfast could have been a bit better-not the food, but there was only one gentleman to serve and I think he was quite stressed. ... very nice, but a bit expensive

we found the hotel violino to be extremely welcoming, staff were friendly and kind. we arrived a little earlier than the stated check in time but our room was available.on arrival in our room we found twin beds but within minutes a very friendly maid asked if we would like the bed changed to a double. Very elegant rooms. ... Hotel in wonderful location, just a few minutes from St. Marks square.Just outside is a lovely canal full of Gondolas and Gondoliers creating the perfect Venetian scene. It is centrally located for all the major sights in Venice. Staff very happy to give directions and suggest places to visit. ... Although we had to leave earlier than the stated breakfast time the staff were only to happy to open the breakfast room for us to have fresh coffee and brioche before we left. ... A small, charming, typically Venetian Hotel, in a great location at a reasonable rate for its central location. Friendly staff, elegant decor, comfortable beds with small but adequate shower room, all spotlessly clean.Quaint breakfast room with a view of the canal and passing Gondolas. A little gem of a Hotel.

After our 4:15 wake-up call, the night shift desk person greeted us in the lobby at 4:30 am with coffee and croissant as we had an early water taxi to the airport. He was most helpful! ... Great location!! Near San Mark's square, walking distance from airport water taxi shuttle (even with large suitcases, it is manageable). Water taxi stop right outside of hotel, however much more expensive. Clean rooms, excellent check-in process.

I think directs to get to the hotel should be clearer. Of course, finding any place in Venice can be challenging. ... We really enjoyed staying at the Hotel Violino d'Oro and would highly recommend staying there. The room was delightful with a nice view of the canal. The room was very quiet even though we were right on the canal. The staff were very nice and the hotel has a nice intimate feeling. ... The one problem we experienced was at breakfast. The staff never greeted anyone to say 'hello' or 'goodbye'. Getting coffee at breakfast took too long and was confusing

The bathroom in the bedroom did not seem to have any air ventilation and was uncomfortably hot. The breakfast range was of a low standard, similiar to many hostels I have stayed in. ... No ... Great location, comfortable. Reasonably priced - for Venice.

I didn't know about it ... I didn't know about it ... The provided map should be improved. We came by train and it wasn't clear which Vaporetto was the best to get to the hotel. Futhermore, it was unclear where to get off (the different Vaporettos have different station names at St.Marco). ... The most important fact for choosing Hotel Violino d'Oro was that it is a completely non-smoking hotel. ... The fact that the hotel is completely non-smoking could be better advertised. ... Very central, completely non-smoking, fiendly staff, rather expensive (I guess that all hotels in Venice are rather expensive ;-)

Directions tell what vaporetto stop to get off, but do not tell what streets to walk down to get to the hotel. ... The bathrooms were very clean and well-stocked with supplies and towels. However, there was some mold on a damp spot on the ceiling near the air conditioner. There are some small things that, if not taken care of, will allow the hotel to become a bit run-down: a section of decorative bed-molding was missing, woodwork around on window was coming loose, the doorknob to the little outdoor terrace in the hallway was broken, the carpeting on the stairs is beginning to look worn. Despite these minor things (and I know it is difficult to maintain things in the salty, damp air of Venice), the locaton was great, the buffet breakfast full of choices and very good (the only thing I might add is some fresh fruit)and the staff wonderful, friendly and helpful. ... The staff arranged for a water taxi to the airport for us and allow us to keep our luggage in the lobby while we went out for a walk. They were very gracious. ... Violino d'Oro is a very good three-star hotel right near San Marco with a terrific buffet breakfast and a very helpful and friendly staff. We had a quad for myself and my three daughters and, for Venice, it was quite roomy. The bathrooms are very clean, good water-pressure in the shower! The hotel has a nice open feel to it because it sits on a canal and a square, not sqeezed into an alley like some hotels.

We found the hotel after walking round with suitcases for at least an hour. ... Great location! Smaller than expected (including room) but very comfortable and excellent breakfasts. Perfect for us ! ... Not fancy and quite small, but superb location and good quality at a very reasonable price. Would certainly recommend to friends with similar tastes and interests.

There are rooms in the main-house and some rooms in an additional house in the backyard. We had a room like this and it was very dark but ok.

After a call we got help how to find the hotel (Venice is a bit difficult, the hotel had no street name, only a number). At the hotel nobody knew about our reservation but they were very polite and solved their problem - we got the room (we had the voucher as a proof of the reservation). ... the accomodation was all right, although the room was very small (which you could not really see on the photo), the bathroom could have been better (no place to put cosmetics, the water between cold and hot varying, a lamp did not work) ... being so close to piazza San Marco was worth the price - and - Venice is expensive! ... very close to the centre, you can do everything on foot from there.
